Androids (人造人間, Jinzōningen, lit. "Artificial Humans") are robotic/biotechnological-type beings in Dragon Ball Z and the Dragon Ball Multiverse manga. Most Androids are created by the genius scientist Dr. Gero. Unlike Saiyans, Humans, and Frost Demons, they do not have signature ki.
Appearance[]
Most Androids are designed to have a Human-like appearance. An Android such as Android 16 is designed to have the appearance of Dr. Gero's deceased son. Androids such as Android 17 and Android 18 were originally Human, but were converted into Androids and they kept their Human appearance. Bio-Androids like Cell appear to be reptile-like.
Types of Androids[]
Mechanical Androids: Mechanical Androids are Androids who are made of complete machinery (like Dr. Gero, who became Android 20, Android 19 and Android 16).
Cyborg Androids: Cyborg Androids are Androids who were once a completely organic being (usually Human), and are mechanically remodeled into half organic, half mechanical beings. These type of Androids have seemingly infinite energy and they cannot become exhausted. Although they do not need to eat, they do need to hydrate. They also age very slowly due to their cells deteriorating slowly.
Bio-Androids: Bio-Androids are Androids constructed either through biological engineering or as clones spawned from other Bio-Androids rather than fro machine parts and/or a Human base. Cell is a prominent Bio-Android, being Dr. Gero's most powerful creation.
