    — Ginyu, in "U8 - The tyrant Freeza must be stopped!"

Ginyu (ギニュー Ginyū), formerly known as Captain Ginyu (ギニュー隊長, Ginyū-taichō) and later taking on the identity of King Cold (コルド大王 Korudo Daiō, lit. "Great King Cold"), is the former right-hand man of Freeza and the former captain of the elite mercenary platoon, the Ginyu Force, turning against his boss after being nearly killed by him.

Escaping this fate by stealing the bodies of multiple people, Ginyu would later steal King Cold's body and would proceed to take on the demon king's identity until his true self was revealed during the Multiverse Tournament.

    Appearance

When in his illustrious mutant body, Ginyu shared the same appearance as his canon counterpart. Ginyu is a tall, purple humanoid alien. The top of his head displays prominent veins, similar to that of a human brain. Two black conical horns protrude from the top sides of his head. Ginyu wears a black variant of the Battle Armor that Freeza's forces wear, with lower side guards, black and white wrist bracers, and the addition of the Ginyu Force insignia on the upper left side of the chest plate. He wears black underwear as his lower body armor. Ginyu is equipped with a green (blue in some colorations) scouter.

When inside of King Cold's body, he shares his appearance including all of his transformed looks, but seems to favor the second restriction and true form for public displays. When in the second restriction state, the same form King Cold is seen in canon, King Cold's height is at least doubled compared to Freeza's own. King Cold possess horns that have lines on them. He wears the standard Battle Armor over his chest, along with a black cape.

When in King Cold's true form, it fundamentally greatly resembles his second restriction state, but with noticeable differences. Ginyu becomes more streamlined and less bulky, though muscularity is still present. Natural bio-armor is visible on his chest, though it unknown if the second restriction state has this too. All forms of horns and bony protrusions are absent, though in his initial debut he is shown to have protrusions on his wrist and ankles. He enjoys wearing Battle Armor adorned with a cape in this state.

    Personality

According to many, Captain Ginyu was a very intelligent and fine tactician who always thought several steps in advance. His acting capabilities were impeccable and he knew how to adapt to any situation no matter what role he had to play. This is proven true since Ginyu has managed to constantly switch bodies with more powerful soldiers over time, killing off his victims to ensure that no one would discover his true identity. Ginyu’s primary desire when changing bodies is to attain the power the host possesses. However when in a female body, he was not particularly fond of their attributes since it easily attracts males.[1]

Ginyu was also a known opportunist, exploiting any advantage he can squeeze out. Interestingly, Ginyu was unique in the fact he was an honest and respectable fighter since he never used unfair advantages in a duel according to Freeza. Even in Cold's body, he still retains some sense of honor, as shown by how he was outraged at Bra's usage of a senzu bean to heal herself during their battle, complaining that it was cheating. Ginyu was also known to be wary of myths and legends, thus why he never attempted to take over a Frost Demon's body originally. Initially, Ginyu held strong, undying loyalty to his master, but after Freeza’s effort in killing him and witnessing his complete disregard for the lives of his soldiers while in another body, Ginyu lost all respect for him and was disgusted by his sadistic greed and vowed revenge for his betrayal.

As captain of the Ginyu Force, Ginyu was very protective and honorable towards his fellow members. This is proven when Ginyu directed the blame onto himself for the planet’s destruction in order to protect his teammates from Freeza's wrath. In return, his former underlings hold great respect and fondness for him and even honored him by not abandoning their team’s name despite Ginyu’s absence.

Captain Ginyu is also a very patient perfectionist, as he is willing to wait years to perfect his plan until the time is right to act. Plus Ginyu likes to train and master his new body, thus showing his ambition to constantly better himself while deepening his knowledge on the identity of his new hosts body. This personality trait to better himself in combat even made Freeza consider him to be a "expert fighter".

Upon becoming King Cold, Ginyu mimicked his personality perfectly, so much so that his sons never suspected any unusual behavior. This is due to Ginyu’s efforts in thoroughly studying public videos that feature King Cold for a long period of time, studying his mannerisms and way of speaking. Just like Cold’s sons, Ginyu exudes a calm, high-class mannerism with eloquent language. Using his authority as a parent, he acts as a peacemaker to settle his son's constant spats with each other. Befitting of a person of his status, Ginyu is also shown to be very vain, as he continuously wears his battle armor at all times, and demanded a new one after his final transformation. Ginyu also hates taking any chances where risks are involved, as proven during his fight against Videl when he became weary of Kaio-ken technique since it shared the name of the gods. Being demeaning, he has no respect for human beings in general.[2] He has also shown great distaste for Saiyans in general, not afraid to call Baddack a "monkey" numerous times in their duel. Additionally, Ginyu has admitted he codes not care about any of his henchmen, but does care for his "sons" to an extent.[3] Interestingly, his love for posing and dancing is completely absent when inside of Cold's body.

Though calm and collected most of the time, Ginyu has his limits, shown with his fight against Baddack. He was enraged enough to stop toying with his weaker opponent by assuming full power, and brutalized him. "Cold" was also very proud, as he intentionally tossed Baddack in Universe 18's area as a living message to showcase his superiority while belittling all Saiyans around him. Ginyu can get annoyed by those who speak just like Vegeta.[1]

Despite his great power, Captain Ginyu has been known to be amazed by others who vastly surpasses his own power. This is shown when Vegetto managed to defeat Broly, which left Ginyu and Cold's children in complete awe at the Saiyan's might.

When majinized, Ginyu gained a immense amount of loyalty to Babidi. He also had low opinions on his "sons" and Dabra.[4] However for Dabra, he doesn't see him as being 'weak' either.[5]

    History

    Early Life

When Ginyu was a small child, when he first discovered his body change ability, Ginyu dedicated himself to fixing the glaring issue of missing his targets. Always hitting a animal with every miss, members of Ginyu's species always helped him to regain his original body. In due time Ginyu also discovered that every time he hit a inert object like a rock, the beam would be cancelled and he would always return to his previous body.[6]

    Rise in Power

Once a low-ranking soldier working in Freeza's planet trade organization, Ginyu was a opportunist with a unique Body Change ability. Using the technique, he successfully swapped bodies with a powerful "demonic" mutant alien on one of the planets he was assigned to purge. With his newfound power, Ginyu was quickly promoted and never changed again since he never found a more powerful body to use.[7]

Before the Ginyu Force was formed, Ginyu competed with Sauza for the position of Freeza's second-in-command. After a hard-fought battle, Ginyu defeated Sauza and took his place as Freeza's best soldier.[8]

    The Two Last Survivors

    Ginyu Posing

    Ginyu posing

In Age 762[9] (Age 763 on January 1 in the novel[7]), both Goku and Nail have successfully invaded Freeza's capital planet after the tragedy on Planet Namek. The likes of Reacum and Butta were being pushed as both Jeece and Guldo headed out to the battlefield.[10] While on the other side of the planet, Ginyu poses for a picture with a little boy that is one of Ginyu's biggest fans. The little boy thanks the captain, but Ginyu gets a call for help from his comrades. Annoyed that it will take him a good five minutes to arrive, Ginyu becomes serious.[11]

    Ginyu Facing the Intruders

    Ginyu powering up

About five minutes later, Ginyu finally arrives at the scene to see his comrades beaten by Goku and Nail. Informing them that Freeza wasn't on the planet and that they're mad for attempting to defy him, Ginyu begins to playfully mourn the "demise" of his fallen comrades. When Reacum ruins his performance, Ginyu powers up and tells the intruders that their invasion ends now and their power is not enough to face him, let alone Freeza himself.[12] As Nail notes that he's largely outclassed against Ginyu, Goku uses the Kaio-ken to face Ginyu.[13]

The Tyrant Freeza must be Stopped

    Nail Attacking Ginyu

    Ginyu tackled by Nail

After a few minutes of combat between Goku as Nail watches on, Ginyu praises the Saiyan's strength and states his desire to have his body. But Goku ignores him upon sensing the great power of Freeza.[14] Visibly angry that he's being ignored, Ginyu attempts his Body Change technique to steal Goku's body. Wanting to save Goku, Nail intervenes and is struct instead, greatly shocking Ginyu as both he and Nail begin the transfer.[15] Now stuck in Nail's body and examining his features, Ginyu attempts to use the Body Change again on Goku, but Nail knocks him away before forcibly tackling him out of the battle scene.[16]

    Guldo Death Full Version

    Ginyu ridiculing Guldo

After a few more minutes of combat, this time with Nail, Ginyu is thrown across multiple buildings before landing. Trying to rise up from the ground and hating how much weaker he's gotten, Nail asks him to once again perform the switch to return back to their respective bodies. As Guldo rises up from the nearby rubble, Ginyu prepares to use his Body Change as Guldo performs his paralysis technique.[17] Stuck in mid-air and desperately trying to tell Guldo that he's really Ginyu, he witnesses Nail brutally killing Guldo before his eyes. Now free from the paralysis, Ginyu curses out Guldo for not be able to see the truth of the situation.[18]

    Nail Defeats Ginyu

    Ginyu defeated by Nail

Continuing his battle against Nail in the air, both were briefly distracted when Goku attacks Freeza with a powerful Kamehameha.[19] Charging at Nail with full abandon, they get into a serious exchange of fists before Ginyu receives a nasty horn strike through his chest. Getting punch in the face, Ginyu is quickly punched down to crash against the top of a building.[20] As Nail slams into Ginyu from above, causing the fallen captain to cough up more blood, Nail punches through Ginyu's chest, causing more blood to be coughed up. Believing to be victorious, Nail prepares to assist Goku in his new body.[21]

    Ginyu Regains His Body

    Ginyu regaining his body

After the battle of Freeza with Goku, Nail is eventually found by Reacum, whom holding the barely conscious Ginyu in his arms. Quickly firing his body change attack, he successfully changes bodies with Nail and regains his old body as Reacum quickly disposes of Nail. Elated, Ginyu studies his old body.[22]

    Freeza Executing Ginyu

    Ginyu fatally wounded by Freeza

Freeza, now in his true form, eventually finds the Ginyu Force and flies to them. Beyond angry that his capital is destroyed and needing a scapegoat to put the blame on, Ginyu takes full responsibility since he was unable to contain the Saiyan warrior. Livid, Freeza prepares a Death Beam on him.[23][24] Fatally injured by the Death Beam and falling down, Freeza tells the downed captain that he's "done dancing" and orders for his body to be burned to death. Poar then picks up Ginyu's body and drags him to the incinerator room, which Ginyu barely remains conscious.[25][26]

    Ginyu Fatally Wounded

    Ginyu carried by Poar

In the novel the death beam scene is expanded upon in detail. When the Saiyan Goku attacked Freeza's capital and dispatched the Ginyu force with ease, Freeza finally manages to dispose of Goku and Nail upon returning to his original form. Freeza was subsequently furious that his capital planet suffered immense damage (despite Freeza himself destroying more than half). Ginyu kneeled before his master as a sign of submission, wanting to spare his men from Freeza's wrath by taking full responsibility for being unable to contain the Saiyan. Needing a scapegoat to put the blame on, Freeza cracked the ground with his tail before raising a finger towards Ginyu. Realizing how Freeza vents his anger to calm down, Ginyu became paralyzed despite wanting to react. After deciding to do nothing more, Freeza showed him no mercy and mortally wounded him via Death Beam through his chest. As Ginyu's muscles stiffened while having his breathe nearly cut off, Ginyu lost almost all of his strength and fell back, motionless. After Freeza insulted Ginyu and orders his body to be burned away, a soldier named Poar (a member of Apple's race) tasked himself to burn the body since the remaining Ginyu's couldn't bring themselves to destroy his body. After lifting Ginyu's left arm over his shoulders, he slowly dragged him inside a building that housed a incinerator.[27]

The Tyrant Freeza Must be Stopped (Body Change Spree)

    Ginyu Escaping Death

    Ginyu escaping death

As the soldier Poar drags Ginyu’s body to the incinerator. Ginyu steals his body and kills Poar, burning his body in the incinerator.[26] In the novel this scene was also extended. Upon dropping Ginyu's body to program the machine, Ginyu was face down on the floor when Poar decided to kick the former captain viciously in his chest. After spitting and insulting the captain even further, Poar went back to the machine to finalize the sequence for the incineration. As Ginyu barely manages to flip his body over face-up, Poar approaches to kneel down and inspect the broken body of Ginyu. To Poar surprise, Ginyu suddenly opens his eyes and shouted "change" to switch bodies with the soldier. After successfully switching bodies with Poar, Ginyu placed Poar inside of the incinerator and watches his former body being reduced to ashes.[27] A few days later, Ginyu is at a restaurant and questions himself why Freeza betrayed him.[26]

    Ginyu Hating Freeza

    Ginyu as Nemokid

Two weeks later, he is on a dangerous mission to conquer a planet. He decides to lay low for a while and is confronted by another soldier [likely Nemokid], and taking advantage of it, he switches bodies with him.[28] In the novel this scene was also extended significantly. Now with a new healthy body (though Ginyu considered it pathetic, but it didn't limit or bother him since he found it better than death), Ginyu concluded Poar's body to be a preliminary stage who acted as a sort of provisional body. Knowing not to change bodies so quickly to arouse suspicions, he played the role of Poar for several days until hearing about a unknown planet being assaulted. Realizing that wars and battles were a perfect pretext, Ginyu registered as a volunteer for a particular battle. After calculating and preparing a plan in perfect detail while being in Poar's body for two weeks, Ginyu wanted the body of a strike force leader named Nemokid. Despite Nemokid's strength being pitiful compared to his old body (about a 2,600 PL), his power was still much greater compared to Poar. Knowing he was always protected by two bodyguards while being hidden in a outpost that shielded from the front lines, Ginyu's small physique easily managed to slip away unnoticed in the shadows, before shouting that the "enemy is here! They took us back!". As the two bodyguards left due to being given orders from a trembling Nemokid, Ginyu slipped into his room as he was all alone. Upon confronting Nemokid, Ginyu immediately used his Body Change Special to become Nemokid, as Nemokid became Poar. Wasting no time, Ginyu killed Nemokid with a potent energy wave as his two bodyguards came back. After telling his bodyguards that this "traitor" attempted to assassinate him on behalf of the enemy, he tells them to clean up the mess since he has a battle to win. Knowing the role he needed to play, Ginyu meticulously created the next steps in his plan while make his losing army win the battle.[27]

Sometime later, he reports to Freeza under the soldier's identity that the planet is now his and Freeza dismisses him. After leaving, Ginyu expresses disgust for Freeza’s lack of compassion for his soldiers that died for his sake.[28]

Back in the capital, Ginyu became concern about his current predicament since he noticed that Nemokid was rather old, thus being close to retirement that will prevent Ginyu to return to the battlefield to confront more powerful beings than himself. Plus Ginyu also had no idea what Nemokid's life resembled (family, occupation, etc), thus creating more problems for Ginyu in the long run. Needing to change bodies once again in the near future very soon, Ginyu decided to meet a old, sick friend who had been bedridden for many years to fulfill a old promise to him. Realizing this was a perfect opportunity to cover his tracks, Ginyu meet his friend in his hospital room, who was on artificial life support. After Ginyu told his friend everything that has happened without hesitation, he proposed the body of Nemokid to him, which Ginyu's friend happily accepted. As his friend became Nemokid to enjoy the luxuries of retirement, Ginyu stayed in his friends old body before switching bodies with a second male nurse. After making two medical errors (implied that it resulted in the death of the second nurse) and faking he suffered from memory loss to prevent a investigator from finding his home that evening, Ginyu then took a leave of sickness.[27] Six months later, Ginyu's nurse body was killed in a terrible accident in front of his seven-year old son, but successfully managed to switch bodies with the boy right before dying. After acquiring perfect scores on tests in his classes, Ginyu slowly grew up in the boys body until he became twenty-two years old. After being arrested followed by many small offences such as a robbery gone awry, Ginyu successfully managed to acquire the body of a police officer.[27] Now being a police officer, Captain Ginyu started to feel safe since he was still alive and that nobody knew his true identity after sixteen years from his supposed "death". Not wanting to leave a shadow of doubt about him while having absolutely no errors, Ginyu began to create a vast plan in order to regain both rank and power.[27]

The Tyrant Freeza Must be Stopped (Universal Domination)

    Ginyu Master Plan

    Ginyu's master plan

Changing many more bodies over the course of several years, Ginyu is now in the body of Nekeru and laments on how he’s grown bored of the non-warrior lifestyle his current body restricted him to. Wishing to have a powerful body, but refusing to be another soldier underneath Freeza, Ginyu begins to hate on his former boss and thinks he deserves to have his body stolen. Looking at a nearby portrait of the Frost Demon clan, Ginyu becomes ecstatic upon seeing the image of King Cold and decides to take his body instead.[29] Some time later, King Cold was alerted by a guard that two elite soldiers have been killed, the demon king dismisses him since he would surely have a high power level where a scouter could detect him. Coming from behind in a assassination suit, Ginyu breaks the guards neck and openly tells King Cold that such a method to locate him won't be necessary. Amused, King Cold is intrigued that he can hide his power level and asks what does he want. As more guards arrive at the door, the body change technique occurs within the room.[30]

    Ginyu Mastering Himself

    Ginyu as King Cold

As multiple guards arrive, Ginyu, now within King Cold's body, has killed the frost demon king within Nekeru's body. Holding the lifeless corpse within his hands, Ginyu admonishes his men for being too slow and orders them to clean up the mess. Internally glad that the body change worked on a frost demon, Ginyu begins to study various diaries, logs, and notes to learn how King Cold thinks and talks daily. Having already studied all his public videos and wishing to learn all of his tales, Ginyu suddenly realizes that he needs to train this body since too much power is flowing through him. Later on, now in his true form, Ginyu manages to master his new power level and no longer needs his reduction form. Despite his newfound mastery, Ginyu knows that his 'sons' would quickly become weary of him.[31] As time goes on, Ginyu would keep communication with his 'sons' cordial and hypocritical, thus meeting as little as possible to avoid speculations. Being a true fighter, Ginyu kept on training in secret and eventually passed the limits that no other frost demon has ever discovered before. With his accomplishments, even his rage towards Freeza began to fade away.[32]

    Unknown Point

At some time in Age 794, Ginyu is approached by the Vargas in Universe 1 to join the Multiverse Tournament. Agreeing with his 'sons' and select henchmen, they agree to represent as Universe 8.

    Multiverse Tournament

First Round - Lots of Old Foes Here

    Frost Demon Lineage

    Ginyu listening to Coola

Ginyu makes his debut when Freeza laments the sight of more Saiyans when Universe 18 arrives. Ginyu comments that "his" people are missing in many universes and adds in that all Saiyans should be eliminated everywhere.[33] Ginyu then silently listens to Coola's proclamation of achieving universal domination.[34]

    Universe 8

    Ginyu with U8 personnel

Ginyu is next seen again among his "sons" and various soldiers when Gohan was noting the various levels of "danger" around the tournament.[35]

First Round - Two Universes in Bad Luck

    Coola Beaten

Ginyu witnesses Coola's loss to Trunks

During Coola's match against Universe 12's Trunks, Ginyu along with Freeza was absolutely stunned upon seeing Super Saiyan Trunks completely dominating Coola initially.[36] Later on, both Ginyu and Freeza were shocked when Augmented Coola was sent crashing into their balcony, unconscious.[37]

First Round - The Lunch Break we've all waited for

    Universe 8 Dinner Colored

    Ginyu at lunch

During the lunch break, Ginyu was eating with his "sons" as their soldiers dine on a separate table.[38]

In the novel this scene was greatly expanded upon. With reality sinking in that three members of the Ginyu Force have lost with Reacum still recuperating, not including Coola's defeat and Sauza's death, the mood was somber. Receiving their serving's first, Ginyu watched Coola drink without moderation until he became quite tipsy. As Freeza started to mock his older brother, which made Coola to start arguing back, Ginyu intervened by telling Freeza to back off. But displeased to see his eldest "son" in such a state, Ginyu sternly told Coola to stop drinking since it was unbecoming of him. Quickly afterwards Ginyu listened to Freeza boasting about defeating Nappa in their duel.[8]

First Round - Vegetto's Last Resources

    Frost Demons Bracing for Impact

    Ginyu bracing for impact

As Vegetto became a Super Saiyan and used his Big Bang Attack on Broly, Ginyu silently listened to Freeza and Coola's amazement at the progression of events since they couldn't follow the battle nor doubted that exterminating them in Universe 8 wasn't a bad idea. Firmly telling Freeza that he needs to be careful when going against Nappa, the younger frost demon said nothing as he began to think about the worst case scenarios.[39]

When Broly and Vegetto clashed their fists together, Ginyu along with Freeza and Coola were shocked by their raw power.[40] When both fighters released their signature techniques simultaneously, Ginyu braces himself for the imminent shock waves from the impact.[41]

    Universe 8 Floating

    Ginyu slowly levitating

As the battle between Vegetto and Broly was reaching the climax, Ginyu was absolutely shocked when his universe started to levitate from Vegetto distorting the gravity field.[42] When Vegetto was officially declared the winner, Ginyu and his "sons" were in utter awe from the raw power Vegetto had displayed.[43]

First Round - What's Left of a Cyborg without Humanity

    Ginyu Listening To Freeza

    Ginyu listens to Freeza

As some time passes by, Ginyu silently listens to his nervous "sons" stating they may be outclassed, though Freeza tells his "father" that they are ultimately after the Dragon Balls, not winning the tournament.[44]

First Round - The Taste of Revenge

    Ginyu Unamused

Ginyu becoming serious upon realizing the strength of his opponent

Upon being called to fight against Videl from Universe 9 in the first round of the tournament, Ginyu becomes very serious.[45]

First Round - Disclosure! Hidden Characters and Shapes

"If the highest Gods are astounded, I should be careful... Seeing the level of this Tournament, I can't stay in this restricted form..."
    — Ginyu, in "Disclosure! Hidden characters and shapes!"

    KingCold8 trans

Ginyu transforming into his First Restriction Form

Before flying towards the arena, Ginyu overhears the Kaioshin of Universe 1 being astonished about the Z-Sword in his opponent's hands. Realizing how astounded the highest gods were, along with the power shown in previous matches, prompted Ginyu to drop his restricted second form and power up to his third form. Getting into position, Ginyu quickly changes shape.[46] With the transformation complete, admits that he feels much as Coola internally admits that things will no longer be good for him if his "father" and brother begin taking his example of mastering their racial powers. With Videl already on the ring, Ginyu lands on it.[47]

In the novel, the beginning is slightly different where Ginyu doesn't immediately transform. Ginyu (still in his Second Restriction Form) locked eyes with Videl before entering the ring, which caused him to lose his smile. When both flew into the ring at the same time, Ginyu effortlessly smashed the ground with one foot upon landing as Videl struggled with the gravity. Upon hearing Videl's desire to fight him, Ginyu mocks her by stating that he has "never had the displeasure of dealing with her kind, who which is all weak and utterly pathetic". After telling her to prove him wrong and fight him like a true warrior without a weapon, Ginyu charges straight at Videl, who immediately uses the Kaio-ken. Videl tried to vertically slashed Ginyu in half, but the Frost Demon manages to evade it by jumping to one side. Upon re-positioning herself and stating her desire to end the fight quickly, Videl charges at Ginyu and makes a sudden horizontal slice.[2]

    Ginyu Chasing Videl

    Ginyu chases Videl

Evading another strike by Videl, Ginyu jumps to the side to get behind Videl, but the human warrior continued her momentum and nearly turned Ginyu into cold cuts. Managing to jump onto the blade from underneath, Ginyu attempts to kick her, but Videl used her Kaioken-enhanced speed to throw a ki blast at him before impact. Still faster than Videl, Ginyu dodges the energy blast and lands relatively close to her. Realizing he should not take any chances since he dose not have the time to form a strategy or knowing how dangerous that sword really was, Ginyu was attacked by Videl yet again who was trying to pierce Ginyu with her blade. Noticing she seemed slower than before, Ginyu avoided her at the last instant and grabs both the z-sword and Videl's wrists from behind. Smiling at his own tactics, Ginyu fails to see Videl's piercing move was really a feint attack, which rewarded Ginyu a backwards kick onto his body, causing him to flinch.[2]

Now in a poor defensive posture, Ginyu fails to stop Videl from hopping off his shoulders and kicking him straight in the face. Now on his back while losing his grip on Videl's wrists, Ginyu still manages to kick away Videl's follow-up attack, which caused her to cancel her original attack in favor of kneeing his kick instead. When Videl backs away several meters, both fighters relax at the miniature break that was created, which allowed Videl to cancel her Kaioken (while still knowing that Ginyu was merely warming up, who was simply binding his time while testing her abilities). Beginning to crack the joints in his neck, Ginyu asks Videl if she realizes he is not fighting in his final transformed state, which she confirms. After telling her that his original from is quite powerful, but needs to restrict his strength for the sake of maintaining control, Ginyu explains to Videl how powerful a Frost Demon becomes upon transforming. When Videl realizes that Ginyu still has two more transformations left, Ginyu smiles at her knowledge and proclaims that he cannot remain in his second reduction form any longer. Upon concentrating his power, the ring began to tremble as Ginyu begins to transform.[2] With the transformation complete, Ginyu is prepared to battle Videl again.[48]

After seeing Videl using her Kaioken technique to power up,[49] Ginyu charges after her to deliver a powerful right hook. To his dismay, Videl dodges it and tries to slice his head off, but Ginyu evades it just in time. Wanting to capitalize on a opening, Ginyu throws a feint punch before delivering a stunning left jab at Videl's face.[50] Managing to recover in mid-air, Videl uses a higher multiplier for the Kaio-ken as Ginyu charges at her once again while laughing. Videl then attempts to slice open Ginyu vertically, but Ginyu stops his approach to avoid being split in two. Wanting to make Videl suffer, Ginyu tries to punch her face yet again, but Videl manages to double kick him right in his abdomen.[51]

As the fight continues on, Ginyu evades another sword strike from Videl, which clashed violently against the ground. Realizing he could severely cripple his opponents strength, Ginyu promptly kicks at the Z-Sword, thus breaking the blade in two. As Videl became shocked at her new predicament, various reactions are scene among the competitors and spectators.[52] Ginyu slaps her face with his tail and proceeds to push her over the edge in live combat. When Videl was in a small crater barely managing to hold off Ginyu's punch, she swiftly escapes his hold and blasts his face with a ki blast as Old Kaioshin debuts on the ring.[53] Completely unfazed and starting to become bored with his opponents stubbornness, Ginyu proclaims he will finish both Videl and Old Kaioshin in his Original Form.[54]

    Ginyu Ready for Combat

    Ginyu reveals his true form

After completing his transformation which resulted in a humongous mushroom-cloud like explosion, Ginyu is revealed to be in his original Form.[55] When Ginyu calmly tells both Videl and Old Kaioshin to attack him together, Videl quickly forfeits from the match, knowing she was completely outclassed.[56]

    CH63-VidelvsCold2-big

    Ginyu facing Videl's Kamehameha

In the novel, Videl does not quit immediately and decides to use a last-ditch effort to defeat Ginyu. After taunting the frost demon to not avoid her attack (even though Ginyu feared nothing concurrently), she used her maximum Kaioken to super-charge a Kamehameha to insane levels. Upon firing the potent, azure energy wave at Ginyu, the frost demon king held out his hands to catch it, which made him be pushed back several meters before the Kamehameha finally exploded. When the dust finally settled, Ginyu was revealed to be completely unharmed from Videl's ultimate technique. Noticing how useless her strength was against Ginyu, Videl finally quits much to Old Kaioshin's disappointment. After watching the flustered human for several seconds, Ginyu begins to walk towards his space and examines his hands. Though not injured, they were tingling and throbbing consecutively, which amazed Ginyu that she even managed to do this to him. Finally concluding the match as interesting, Ginyu finally flies back to his universe's space.[57]

    Ginyu Towering his Sons

    Ginyu before his "sons"

With the match now officially over with him as the winner, Ginyu flies back to his universe's balcony to greet his surprised "children". When a nervous Freeza and Coola ask Ginyu if he can control himself in that form, Ginyu calmly tells him he can, since it was possible that both of them have managed it too.[56]

First Round - Saiyans, Nameks, and other Demons

    Frost Demons Plans

    Ginyu listens to Freeza

When the First Round was officially concluded and dinner went underway, Ginyu was shown to be drinking with both of his sons. While drinking, Freeza reveals that tonight they shall steal all sets of Dragon Balls to attain their wishes.[58]

    Goodnight's Sleep

"The body change ability of your Captain Ginyu, does any of the other soldiers have it?"
    "What? No!"
"Because one of the members of the Universe 8 is not in his real body."
Majin Buu and Freeza, in "A good night's sleep"

    KorudoDaio

    Ginyu speaking with his "son"

While inside of the Universe 8 apartment, Ginyu silently listens to the plan devised by Freeza, Coola, and their men. Realizing that Freeza and Coola are about to argue, Ginyu cuts in and states that both Coola and Freeza shall take a different part of the building without any arguing.[59] As the night comes to a close, Ginyu listens to Coola stating that he could not find any dragon balls despite searching everywhere. When Ginyu asks where Freeza is at, Coola merely says that he has returned to his ship.[23]

    Frost Demons Musical Taste

Ginyu mocking Coola's taste in music

When it finally became morning with the "Cantina Band" performing in the musical interlude, Ginyu notes that the music sounds awfully familiar to the bad music played at Coola's receptions. When Coola tries to defend his pride, Freeza uses that chance to mock him further, with Ginyu not rebutting him.[60]

Second Round - The Warrior with Murderous Madness

When Cell manages to kill Bojack during his match, Coola notes that the bio-android looks similar to them (the Frost Demons), though Freeza perceives it as nonsense. At the same time, a soldier gives a new set of armor to Ginyu, with the latter feeling pleased.[61]

Second Round - The Hope for a Whole Universe

    Baddack facing Ginyu

Ginyu's match with Baddack is interrupted by Vegetto

Ginyu's second match was against Baddack of Universe 3. When both warriors land on the ring, Baddack immediately transforms into a Super Saiyan and proclaims that this is Ginyu's last fight since he has foreseen his defeat. However, the match between Ginyu and Baddack was interrupted by Vegetto of Universe 16, who has returned from the alternate dimension he was moved into by XXI.[62][63]

    Second Round - XXI

    Ginyu sucker punching Baddack

    Ginyu punches Baddack

As Vegetto remained speechless upon returning, both Ginyu and Baddack silently stare at the fused Saiyan warrior.[64] Before Baddack could question on what was going on, seeing a opening Ginyu quickly capitalizes on it by sucker punching Baddack in the face. With Baddack careening on the floor, Ginyu immediately jumps to continue his assault while Vegetto remains confused.[65] Continuing to strike at Baddack despite the older Saiyan wishing to stop, Vegetto's anger hits a boiling point due to none of his questions being answered. Snapping, Vegetto brutally stomps on the faces of Ginyu and Baddack into the arena's surface.[66] Once Vegetto teleports away, West Kaioshin makes the "ok" for Ginyu's match to resume as the frost demon massages his neck.[67] In the novel, Namekian healers come to the arena to fix the injuries inflicted on both Baddack and Ginyu. Ginyu was highly irritated by this since his sucker-punch was all for nothing.[63]

    Baddack and Ginyu Trapped

Ginyu and Baddack are captured by Majin Buu

When Zen Buu goes on his rampage at XXI's refusal of a rematch with Vegetto, both Baddack and Ginyu became ensnared by Buu's slime.[68] In the novel right before being caught, but Ginyu and Baddack managed to repel Buu's pieces by coordinating their attacks and protecting each other's blind spots.[69] When Buu decided to have Gohan and Cell fight, he briefly removed Ginyu and Baddack off from the ring.[69] They remained trapped until Gast Carcolh of Universe 7 intervened and restrained Buu by means of powerful telekinesis.[70][3]

Second Round - The Fight of the Fathers

"You think I'm afraid of an opponent who can see the future... My opponents have no future!"
    — "King Cold", in "The fight of the fathers"

    BaddackAndColdFight

    "King Cold" battling Baddack

Baddack and Ginyu's match resumes soon afterwards when the Great Kaioshin decrees so.[71][3] Upon hearing the official announcement again from the Great Kaioshin to resume their match, Ginyu remarks that the entire ordeal with Buu was rather unpleasant. After finishing patting off the dirt from his shoulder, Ginyu hears Baddack stating that he is destined to lose because he has foreseen the future, though Ginyu laughs at his proclamation since he fears no opponents who have no future. Both warriors then rush each other simultaneously.[72]

    Baddack Reversing Ginyu's Hold

    Ginyu getting overwhelmed

Both fighters collide their forearms together, thus creating a visible shock wave. When Baddack manages to block a punch and notes that Ginyu has far more raw power than him, the Saiyan warrior begins to retreat.[73] Ginyu immediately begins to chase after the retreating Baddack. After managing to avoid a right jab from Baddack, Ginyu rewards the Saiyan with a devastating left punch to Baddack's face, before getting his tail in position for a follow up strike.[74] Using his tail to wrap itself around Baddack's left ankle to have him within sight and range, Ginyu releases a barrage of powerful punches all over Baddack, before violently throwing him into the ground.[75] Upon picking up the Saiyan from his miniature crater, Ginyu is utterly disgusted that such weak Super Saiyans have managed to kill his kind in a number of universes. After remarking that the Saiyan is helpless upside-down, Baddack retaliates by punching Ginyu hard in the chest, which was followed by a barrage of similar punches that forces Ginyu to back up from the searing pain.[76] Ginyu was immediately kicked by Baddack, thus loosening his grip on him. Baddack them proceeds to fly in the air and blast Ginyu with a potent energy wave, thus creating a significant explosion.[77]

    0804

    Ginyu pushing Baddack

When the smoke completely clears, Ginyu is shown to be significantly injured with his armor destroyed. Calling Baddack "monkey scum", Ginyu powers up to his 100% form, which greatly surprises Baddack.[78] As Freeza marvels that he completed the power up in a single second, though Goku protests that Baddack can win if he can hold out until Ginyu gets tired, Ginyu seemingly teleports to Baddack's location to deliver a gut-clenching punch straight to his abdomen.[79] After punching Baddack senselessly for several moments, Baddack retaliates with a quick jab, though Ginyu afterimages out of the attack. Ginyu then brutally punches Baddack on the side of his head, sending the injured Saiyan skidding down the terrain.[80]

    0806

    Ginyu surprised by Baddack

After slowly getting up while contemplating how he going to win, Baddack charges his fists with ki before Ginyu suddenly grabs him by the neck. Not having any of it, Baddack manages to knee Ginyu's chin before shooting out a potent energy wave.[81] Managing to recover in time, Ginyu uses his spherical aura to deflect the energy wave away from him. Delighted by his maneuver, Ginyu gleefully prepares to say something to Baddack, but is surprised to find the Saiyan suddenly gone. To his shock, Baddack manages to knee Ginyu's back.[82]

    Ginyu Speech To Saiyans

Ginyu's victory speech to all Saiyans

Not deterred from the kick, Ginyu uses the added momentum to his favor by flying away. As Baddack flies after Ginyu to catch up with him, Baddack throws another punch, though Ginyu evades it using his superior speed. Now positioned at Baddack's blind-side, Ginyu throws his aura to create a Imprisonment Ball around Baddack, thus effectively immobilizing the Super Saiyan warrior.[83] Tired of the Saiyan, Ginyu fires the ball straight at Universe 18 while saying "so long".[84] Wasting no time, Son Goku transforms into an Super Saiyan 3 and creates a energy shield to neutralize the Imprisonment Ball.[85] With Baddack heavily injured and virtually paralyzed, Ginyu states he has done that stunt as a "message" to all Saiyans who dares to oppose his kind. When Baddack is declared to be eliminated due to being unable to stand up, Ginyu is declared the winner of the match.[86]

    Second Round - Enemies Forever

When Dr. Raichi summoned the Ghost Warrior version version of the Frost Demons from Universe 3, both Ginyu and his "sons" were stunned to see copies of themselves. Speechless, each one looked at each other to help determine what was going on. Dumbfounded upon seeing Super Saiyan 2 Emperor Vegeta easily killing off King Cold, Ginyu began to feel nervous especially since he deliberately provoked the Saiyans earlier. Thinking it may have been netter to hold off his tongue than giving in to his rush of adrenaline, he began to feel further at unease upon remembering that his next opponent is Son Bra. Despite also remembering Baddack's future vision about himself, Ginyu reassured himself since he would reveal the full extent of his abilities and prove yet again why he was the most powerful being in all the universes. When Vegeta killed all the Frost Demons, the entire mood in Universe 8 was somber due to seeing themselves being killed so easily.[87]

Upon seeing the Ghost Warrior versions of Butta and Sauza, Ginyu and many others had no reaction to their resurrection. Only the Ginyu Force and Coola's remaining Armored Squadron were glad to see them back.[88]

Second Round - Corruption of the Absolute Evil

    Frost Demons Excited

    Ginyu and "sons" astonished

When the second round was officially concluded, Ginyu and his "sons" became very happy when the Namekians arrived with a set of Dragon Balls.[89] To their utter dismay, Gast turns to them and warns them to not even think about it since half of the stadium is watching them while Vegetto threatens to obliterate anybody who crosses the low-wall.[90]

    Buu's Escapades

    GinyuSleep

"King Cold" sleeping as Buu sneaks into the room

When it became nighttime, Ginyu was completely asleep in his ship when Zen Buu arrives. Using his powers, Zen Buu gives Ginyu an "idea" that if his opponent happens to be a Saiyan, simply talk to them which will make them accept any terms for a more interesting match.[91] When morning came, Ginyu informed Freeza and Coola about his "idea" he would employ against Son Bra.[92]

Third Round - The New Abilities of Fusion

    KingColdandBra16

    "King Cold" speaks with Bra

Before his match against Bra occurred, Ginyu alongside Freeza requested a soldier to go to their spaceship inform the Ginyu Force that lunch being served in the arena and wanted them to participate to see Ginyu's subsequent victory afterwards. During Coola's battle against Videl and Tidar in the first round of the Secondary Tournament, Ginyu found Coola's performance to be pathetic when he lost and returned back to their balcony.[93]

When Bra of Universe 16 asks Piccolo if she could get into a more lighter outfit for her upcoming match against Ginyu, Trunks asks Bra why she would change into a lighter outfit. When she says that the gravity is more dangerous than Cold, Ginyu (now wearing a even more elaborate piece of chest armor than his previous two sets) arrives and walks up to the Universe 16's wing. After smugly telling Bra that she is quite sure of herself, he states he is much stronger than his two children and that he won't be so easy to defeat.[94] When Bra retorts that their match will be very simple, Ginyu sternly tells her that she is confident only because of her ability to transform into a Super Saiyan, and would be nothing without it. After adding in that his race would have never been defeated by the Saiyans because of that, Bra is still dismissive of Ginyu and says that he is "really ignorant whose outclassed a thousand times over and can be defeated without Super Saiyan, hands or feet". After adding in that she can squash Ginyu with just her breath, she promises that Ginyu shall understand in the upcoming seconds. Now smiling darkly, Ginyu proposes a handicap to make for a more interesting fight that official with the organizers; Bra will not be able to transform into a Super Saiyan and if she does, she loses the match. When Bra simply laughs and says that she could beat him with her pinky finger without transforming, Ginyu confirms with a nearby Vargas that it is official, much to Bra's acceptance and Gohan's disagreement.[95]

    Ginyu Powering Up

    Ginyu powering up

As Bra steps into the ring, Bra tells Ginyu that he simply does not understand since she is more than just a simple Saiyan. After yelling out "wait" to Bra, Ginyu is shown to be slightly hovering above the ring and points out that he has not touched the ring yet, so the fight has not truly begun. After ominously pointing out that he has a surprise for her, Ginyu begins to transform into his Augmentation Form, something not even his children have seen.[96] After completing his transformation to reveal his more majestic, but toned demonic body, Bra mocks Ginyu and states that he now has a small chance now. Slightly amused by Bra's arrogance, Ginyu keeps his smile while powering up even more, thus producing a blazing, electrical aura dancing around him.[97]

    1170

    Ginyu Vs Bra

Proceeding to transform even further, Ginyu completes his massive four-armed Second Augmentation Form, which has a similar appearance to that of his First Restriction Form.[98] Grinning while leaning down to look at a stunned Bra, Piccolo of Universe 18 states that Ginyu's power is close to that of Perfect Cell in his early stages. When Gohan yells at Bra to cancel the bet, Bra simply sees the match as a good opportunity to train and ultimately keeps the handicap.[99]

Third Round - Balancing the Fighters

    Ginyu Firing Bra

    Ginyu blasting Bra

Not wasting any time, Ginyu immediately attempts to punch Bra, but she evades it by jumping up. Seizing a golden opportunity to take advantage of a opening, Bra powers up her fist and punches Ginyu directly in the face. Despite getting a small bloody bruise on his cheek, Ginyu is ultimately unaffected by it and smiles.[100] Attempting to skewer Bra from behind with his tail, she skillfully dodged it, though her cheek got nicked in the process. Bra then manages to either deflect of evade Ginyu's punches.[101] Seeing a opening, Ginyu ambushes Bra by firing a potent energy blast at her, which she's barely able to block.[102] After sailing more than half way across the stadium and in imminent danger of her being caught in its detonation or hitting the energy field, tempted Bra to use instant transmission to escape it. As the explosion illuminates the entire arena, Ginyu mocks a puffing and injured Bra that her attacks don't really hurt.[103]

    Ginyu Homing Death Missiles

    Ginyu creating energy bombs

After asking her if she's tired already, she smugly retorts that everything so far is merely the warmup. Amused by Bra's continuing theatrics, Ginyu proclaims it is timed to move on to the serious stuff and utilizes his homing technique, which conjures up ten small energy beams from his finger tips.[104] Firing every shot at Bra, she initially flies away, but quickly decides to correct the target of each blast.[105] Managing to grab one blast, Bra flings it back to Ginyu as the rest still chases her.[106] Deflecting the rest back at Ginyu, he becomes angry before insulting her.[107] Managing to deflect each shot back to Bra, she quickly deflects them again while insulting Ginyu.[108] As the exchange continues, it is revealed that Bra been adding more blasts into the mix.[109] Struggling to handle the added pressure, Ginyu becomes visibly worried as tensions arise.[110] Unable to handle it, Ginyu panics before he is assaulted by all the blasts, engulfing him in a fiery inferno as Bra charges up her finisher.[111]

    Ginyu Dodging Blasts

    Ginyu avoiding energy waves

Mocking Ginyu one more time, she fires her blasts at Ginyu. But not finished yet, Ginyu emerges from the inferno with clear signs of damage while being enraged.[112] As Bra becomes shocked while Ginyu remains angry, he performs an aerial dynamic maneuver to dodge Bra's two ki blasts, which amazes Universe 8 while making Universe 16 worried.[113] Cocking his punch as the blasts explodes behind him, Ginyu charges into Bra and brutally punches her, which forces her to get sandwiched between the fist and the energy shield.[114] With her coughing up copious amounts of blood, Ginyu begins to unleash a frenzy of punches on her, which thunders across the stadium as Universe 19 winces at the sight while Pan and Gohan struggle to contain their emotions.[115]

    Ginyu Defeated Bra

    Ginyu pleased with Bra's condition

Continuing to beat on the shield without pause, it was revealed that Bra managed to teleport out of the chaotic barrage. However, Bra is extensively damaged as Ginyu finally notices that Bra is gone. But hearing her collapse on the ground behind him, Ginyu turns around and smirks at the poor condition she's in.[116]

    Ginyu Kienzan

    Ginyu’s four Tsubi Kienzan

As the Vargas begin the countdown since Bra has collapsed, Pan asks her father if she is dead. Gohan replies that he cannot sense her energy from Universe 16's wing, however from Universe 18 Uub states that he still senses her energy, however it is very weak. Managing to overhear Uub's statement, Ginyu smirks deviously as he creates four Tsubi Kienzan using all of his arms.[117] Releasing them on Bra in the hopes to take her out permanently, Bra is shown to be munching on something.[118] Suddenly rejuvenated, it revealed she's been eating senzu beans from her glove as she avoids all the energy discs. The change of events astounds Ginyu, which both shocks Uub and amazes Pan.[119] Enraged, Ginyu tells her that she's cheating, which she retorts that she's using the rules to her advantage. Wishing to make a example out of her, Ginyu controls one of the discs to come back to her.[120]

    Ginyu Striking Clone

    Ginyu striking Bra's clone

Summoning her energy sword, Bra easily cuts through the disc, which amazes both Goku and Vegeta. Telling Ginyu that he lost before entering the ring, she admits that she's only been using basic attacks until now. Wishing to end this, she shimmers away via teleportation.[121] Getting sliced in the abdomen from her sword strike, Ginyu becomes even more mad and tells her that she cannot take him by surprise. Launching a punch at her, he's shocked to find himself smashing through a solid clone instead. He is immediately surprised when she's behind him.[122] Trying to strike Bra again, he only hits another clone and is surprised to see the mass sticking on his arm. Cursing as it spreads over his body, the sheer weight forcibly brings him to his knees as he crashes back onto the arena. In submission, Bra joins her hands above her head.[123]

    Bra Scythe Cutting Ginyu

    Ginyu sliced in half

With Ginyu in prime position to be attacked, Bra summons her Spirit Scythe to make a decisive blow to Ginyu. Visibly panicking and with little options left, Ginyu wraps his tail around himself as a final means of protection.[124] Bringing the scythe down on Ginyu, the powerful frost demon is dealt a devastating blow. Nearly cut in half from the left side of his body, multiple horns are severed as his tail is cut in half, which allows his blood to freely fall out of his body and into the air.[125]

Third Round - Drop The Act

    Ginyu Beaten By Bra

    Ginyu defeated

Severely wounded from the blow he was dealt with, Ginyu coughs up blood as several people commentate on the scene before them.[126] Now laying on his back, Ginyu congratulates Bra for her victory, to which she arrogantly gloats over. When the count concludes, Ginyu happily activates hid Body Change Special technique.[127] As Bra is officially declared the winner, Ginyu changes bodies with her. With Bra ultimately stuck in his former alien body, Ginyu internally bids Universe 8 farewell as both Freeza and Coola approach Bra in King Cold's body.[128]

    Ginyu Bra Evil Smirk

    Ginyu smirking menacingly

As the Frost Demons take Bra back to their ship, Ginyu arrives in Universe 16 and smirks menacingly when Pan praises him.[129] When Pan happily asks Ginyu on how he performed all his abilities, Ginyu eagerly pats Pan on the head that he'll teach her later, but first needs a shower. As Universe 18 becomes weary on the occurrence as Freeza explains to Coola about the situation, Gohan stops Ginyu from entering the apartment as Vegetto coldly tells Ginyu that he's not really Bra, which surprises the former commando.[130]

    Ginyu Bra

    Ginyu bowing before Universe 16

Trying to play like he's Bra all along, Ginyu is further surprised when both Gohan and Vegetto doubled down and know he's actually Ginyu. With Pan becoming shocked by the revelation, Ginyu decides to become honest on who he really is. Politely bowing before them, Ginyu christens himself as "Bra" and vows to be a big help while be grateful to join their family.[131]

    Vegetto holding Ginyu

    Ginyu is restrained by Vegetto

Amused when Vegetto violently grabs his short and vows to make him pay, the fused saiyan forcibly teleports them before the three frost demons. When Freeza tries to form an uneasy alliance with Vegetto to stop Ginyu, the body snatcher happily waves at him as Vegetto performs a kiai at them.[132] With both Freeza and Coola knocked out, Vegetto orders Ginyu to perform the switch, which he immediately questions. Telling Ginyu that he'll suffer a fate worse than death, Ginyu question that also, which allows him to hear that Vegetto will destroy his soul which will forever prevent him from enjoying any form of paradise. Not afraid and telling Vegetto that his life is too important to be extinguished, Vegetto rebuttals him that Shenron can restore Bra, but not his soul that he would have cut off.[133] Acting like he's about to change back with Bra, Ginyu instead fires a vicious mouth energy wave to kill Ba in his old body. But to his shock, his attack only destroys the barren ground of a asteroid. Vegetto then informs Ginyu that he cannot be fooled and is trained in preventing Bra's body from lashing out for years.[134]

    Ginyu Bra Super Saiyan

    Ginyu in Super Saiyan form

Grimly telling Ginyu that all must obey his will, the body snatcher gives Vegetto a honeyed look and tells him that Bra will eventually die and he's his new daughter now. Egging Vegetto to "kill" despite being his new daughter, Vegetto ruthlessly raises him before slamming his head against the ground. Not harmed too much and now sitting down, Ginyu tells Vegetto that he'll be forever separated from Bra's soul if they fight outside the ring. Not deterred since Vegetto knows that they're light years away from the arena, Ginyu is pleased with the news since he wishes to test out his body. Standing back up, he transforms into a Super Saiyan.[135] With Vegetto also becoming a Super Saiyan, Ginyu lunges at the fused saiyan and has his punch nonchalantly blocked. Trying to land multiple blows across Vegetto's body, Ginyu is smacked in the chin and falls some distance away. Annoyed, Ginyu receives a stern warning from Vegetto that nobody in any universe can come close to a tenth of his level.[136]

Ginyu Bra Super Saiyan 2 Charge

    Ginyu in Super Saiyan 2

As Ginyu further listens that he lacks the true capabilities of Bra since he doesn't have true harmony between her body and his spirit, Ginyu smirks and tells Vegetto that his analysis is only true if he lands in a body of pure good, which nobody like that exists to his knowledge. As Vegetto becomes silent at that revelation, Ginyu stands back up and proudly claims that he has mastered this body very well. Transforming into an Super Saiyan 2, Vegetto is briefly stunned before mirroring him by also transforming.[137] Lunging at Vegetto again and having his punch blocked once more, Ginyu becomes excited before backing away and proclaiming that their powers aren't too far apart. Unlashing a storm of ki blasts and Kienzan's at the fused saiyan, Vegetto merely makes a cross block and tells Ginyu that he's merely drunk on power.[138]

    Ginyu-Bra Defeated

    Ginyu defeated again

Seemingly cutting Vegetto in half, Ginyu grins in satisfaction since his victory finally seems secured. But to his absolute horror, Vegetto materializes behind him and is not damaged in the slightest. Transformed into an Super Saiyan 3, Ginyu hears Vegetto's proclamation to end this before being delivered a Earth-shattering punch straight to his face.[139] Falling into a pool of methane, Ginyu remains motionless as Vegetto approaches his broken body. Painfully grabbed by the neck and holstered up, Vegetto tries to force Ginyu to obey his command, but the former frost demon king decides to employ his body change technique instead.[140]

    Vegetto saving Bra

    Ginyu back in Cold's body

Absolutely horrified that he's instantly back in Universe 8 ship and transforming back with Bra, Vegetto is pleased that Bra is safe as Ginyu is once again in King Cold's body. Painfully managing to open one eye, Ginyu listens to their conversation.[141] As Coola fails to hit the retreating Vegetto and Bra while Freeza wonders where Ginyu is at, both of the Frost Demons are hit by a sudden psychic attack before Ginyu's healing pod.[142] As Babidi laughs at their woefulness and inability to fight off his magic, Vegetto is back at Universe 16's balcony and tells Gohan that Ginyu is back inside King Cold's body and no longer cares about him.[143] In the novel the last scenes are extended. When Vegetto teleported away, both Freeza and Coola recuperated and approached the fallen Ginyu in his healing chamber. Angry at the treachery Ginyu has done to them, both Freeza and Coola was about to kill him until Babidi attempted to take over their minds. Being already exhausted, Ginyu gave in and immediately became Babidi's slave.[144]

Third Round - All the Hatred of the World

    Ginyu Getting Healed

Freeza and Coola orders a Namekian to heal Ginyu

After Gast Carcolh successfully managed to destroy both Dr. Raichi and Hatchiyack to secure his victory, the Vargas were in a intermission before the Fourth Round started. Still in the healing tank and reduced back to his true form, Ginyu was about to be healed by a Namekian since both Freeza and Coola, both possessed by Babidi, wanted him back to full health.[145]

    Babidi's Trap

With Babidi's invasion in full swing, Ginyu is shown to be fully healed and truly possessed by Babidi. Levitating with every member of his universe while being the last to join them, Freeza gives the order to attack all spectators and the fighters who are problematic.[146][5] Wishing to defeat the Kaioshin above all else, Ginyu heads towards Universe 1 until he realizes Piccolo's attack on his men. This makes him to go back to assist his men.[5]

    Budokai Royale

    Piccolo Striking Majin Ginyu

    Ginyu is struck by Piccolo

With Piccolo quickly overwhelming both Freeza and Coola in their true forms, Ginyu quickly powers up into his 100% Full power State. Missing his punch and telling Coola to quickly transform into the Augmented state, Ginyu's next punch also misses and it just goes through Piccolo's cape. Ginyu then receives a devastating kick to the face.[147]

    Majin Ginyu Fifth Form

    Ginyu in fifth form

As Piccolo begins to battle Coola, both Ginyu and Freeza both start the process of also transforming into their Augmentation States.[148] In the novel, Cell saved Ginyu from Piccolo's ki blast so that he could continue transforming.[5] With their transformations complete, Ginyu states that this form is better for drawn out fights and wishes to start off slow.[149]

    Majin Ginyu Vs Piccolo

    Ginyu Vs Piccolo

After some intense offscreen fighting occurred, all three Frost Demons were surrounding Piccolo in the air. Ginyu then watches Piccolo humiliate the two younger Frost Demons.[150] Managing to elbow Piccolo in the face, Ginyu's follow up knee strike is blocked by Piccolo's own before the Namekian was blasted by multiple Death Beams from Coola and Freeza.[151]

    Ginyu Vs West Kaioshin

    Ginyu Vs West Kaioshin

About to reengage combat against Piccolo as the Namekian darkly notes how much stronger he is compared to the other two, Ginyu suddenly becomes paralyzed as West Kaioshin intervenes to assist Piccolo.[152] Struggling to move as West Kaioshin confirms she doesn't fight as well compared to South Kaioshin, she telepathically blasts Ginyu away before boasting that having such strength is not necessary against his kind before blasting him away again.[153] As the battle becomes more intense, Ginyu is sporting multiple wounds and attempts to punch the goddess only to be stopped once more with her telekinesis.[154]

Heavily injured and now stuck into a wall, West Kaioshin demands Ginyu to call back his men since he's clearly losing. Refusing to cave in, Ginyu immediately begins to power up.[155] With North Kaioshin joining the fight to assist West Kaioshin, both are immediately grabbed by Ginyu, now in the Second Augmentation state and fully healed.[156]

Ginyu after being hit by East Kaioshin

Wishing to assist his comrades, East Kaioshin joins the fray and smacks Ginyu across the face, which saves West Kaioshin from her immediate imprisonment.[157] After more intense fighting has occured, all three Kaioshin had Ginyu pinned down and claimed that he was finished. Not yet ready to give up, Ginyu employed his Body Change move.[158] Successfully switching with North Kaioshin, Ginyu performs suicide before quickly switching with East Kaioshin to steal his body, which effectively killed East Kaioshin in the process.[159] Performing suicide again, Ginyu quickly launches his Body Change move once before North Kaioshin in King Cold's body could pulverize his body. West Kaioshin narrowly dodges the change beam.[160]

    Ginyu Victory Colored

Ginyu successfully eliminates all the Kaioshins

Redirecting the beam back at the goddess, Ginyu successfully switches with her which effectively allows him to gain her body that also kills her in the process. Before he can perform suicide again, North Kaioshin uses telekinesis to strike Ginyu.[161] Seemingly killed when North Kaioshin impales using his tail, Ginyu appears before the deity.[162] Now in the body of Griyon, who was killed in West Kaioshin's body, Ginyu mercilessly changes with North Kaioshin before killing the god with is tail. Elated, Ginyu roars to the Heavens to tell Babidi that he has defeated all the available gods for him.[163]

After Gohan brutalized Kakarotto and hearing Ginyu's proud message to Babidi, Gohan immediately grew tired of his message and fired a mighty energy wave at him. Shocked, Ginyu immediately attempts to use his body change move.[164] Too slow, Ginyu is consumed by the blast and killed from it, thus ending his role in the Majin Invasion prematurely as bloody pieces fall from the sky.[165]

    Fourth Round - Quarter Finals

    Ginyu Before Frost Demons

    Ginyu landing before his "sons"

As many spectators and competitors try to adjust to what happened to them, Ginyu asks the Kaioshin for forgiveness due to his actions while being possessed by Babidi.[168] Politely bowing and vowing to never show disrespect again, the Great Kaioshin hears him out before forgiving him and all of those possessed.[169] Landing back in the area for Universe 8, Ginyu questions both Coola and Freeza. He learns that while they dislike they were lied to and refuse to see him as their father, but appreciate his efforts in making amends to the authorities while being more capable their their real father. However they want to renegotiate the politics and sharing of the universe, though Ginyu can keep his position.[170]

Fourth Round - Buu Vs The Multiverse

    Zen Buu Vs Frost Demons

Ginyu and "sons" Vs Zen Buu

When Zen Buu went on his second rampage, Ginyu and everyone else in his universe struggled against the copies of Buu.[171] However thanks to the backup plan made by the Vargas, all of Universe 8 and everyone else was spared from further fighting when all of Buu was forcibly teleported back to his home universe.[172]

    Future Events

    Ginyu Future Vision

    Ginyu's Future Vision

According to one vision from Baddack, both Freeza and Coola will see Ginyu in severely bad shape as his "sons" watch him in the healing tank.[72] This became true right before the Majin Invasion occurred.[145]

Ginyu hasn't been seen in any other vision besides the aforementioned one.

    Power & Abilities (Pre-Multiverse Tournament)

    Early History

At one point, Ginyu and Sauza were equals. Despite a long and hard battle, Ginyu won and was allowed to become the leader of Freeza's special forces.[8]

The Two Last Survivors / The Tyrant Freeza Must Be Stopped

Originally while in his iconic Mutant body, Captain Ginyu must have had a power level of 120,000 like in canon.

    Ginyu Vs Goku

    Ginyu facing Goku

Upon facing Goku and Nail, Ginyu became convinced that neither of them would be able to defeat him.[12] But after Goku used Kaio-ken and several minutes of combat offscreen,[13][14] Ginyu became determined to steal Goku's body since he grew a liking to it. However, Nail intervenes and they swap bodies before Nail tackles Ginyu away.[15][16]

Thus at this point, Ginyu was inferior to Goku and just like in canon, attempted to steal his body in the hopes of growing stronger.

    Nail Beating Ginyu

    Nail overwhelming Ginyu

After several minutes of combat, Ginyu was inferior and was unable to overwhelm Nail in his old body.[17][18] As the fighting continued, Nail ultimately won and left Ginyu for dead.[19][20][21] But thanks to Reacum's intervention, Ginyu manages to switch back with Nail and regain his former power level.[22]

Thus for the majority of this point, Ginyu was much weaker than usual and nearly died in combat against Nail. Luckily for him, he managed to regain his old body to be reinstated back into his prime.

    Ginyu taking Responsibility

    Ginyu accepting his fate

Ultimately Ginyu was mortally wounded by Freeza since the Frost Demon was enraged that his capital planet was ruined.[23] A single Death Beam fell him and Ginyu barely clung to life after the attack.[25]

Thus when standing against Freeza in his true form, Ginyu was absolutely no match for the tyrant and was beaten in one strike.

Afterwards from his near death experience, Ginyu started to constantly swap bodies to prolong his life and regain his strength. When inside of Poar's body, Ginyu considered his power to be utterly pathetic. But once he swapped bodies with Nemokid, his power level increased to a measly 2,600. Ginyu continued to switch bodies, thus changing his power level with each hop.[7]

    Ginyu Training

    Ginyu mastering King Cold's powers

When inside the body of Nekeru that doesn't participate in combat, Ginyu ultimately decided to switch bodies with King Cold.[29] Easily breaking into his office and killing a guard, Ginyu successfully switches with King Cold.[30] Killing the former demon king in his old body, Ginyu begins to train extensively until he masters his new bodies true form.[31] And over the years, Ginyu breaks the limitations on his body, thus achieving levels no other frost demon in any known universe has ever reached before.[32]

Thus Ginyu has effectively became the strongest living being in the entire universe.

The Tyrant Freeza Must Be Stopped - Statements

Upon facing Goku and Nail, Ginyu was convinced that they weren't strong enough to face him, let alone Freeza himself.[12] After Goku used Kaio-ken,[13] followed by several minutes of combat,[14] Ginyu became determined to steal Goku's power. He then quickly uses the body change to attempt just that.[15]

Freeza believed that during the time of the invasion, Goku was stronger than Ginyu and the rest of the Ginyu Force put together.[27]

Upon seeing Ginyu's full power level in his Mutant body, Nail admitted that he was far outclassed compared to him.[13] After switching bodies,[15] Ginyu openly cursed that he became even weaker.[17] This was briefly rectified when he regained his old body.[22]

    Traits

Power Level Adjustment: Ginyu possessed the rare ability of manually lowering or raising his power level at will.

    Power & Abilities (Multiverse Tournament)

Ginyu is the most powerful being in Universe 8, having fully mastered and augmented the power within King Cold's body. This and his immense influence of subjects has effectively allowed him to rule over the entire universe without incident. His strength was recognized since the Vargas selected him to participate in the Multiverse Tournament.

    Tournament - First Round

    Ginyu Vs Videl

    Ginyu vs Videl

Upon facing Videl in the their match, due to the high power level in the tournament alongside the Kaioshin being amazed by her Z-Sword prompted him to immediately transform.[46] In the novel, Ginyu first challenges Videl in his current reduction form 2 and is able to hold his own against her. Despite generally being faster, the danger of the Z-Sword constantly pushed Ginyu back from making executive blows. During the conclusion of their brawl, Ginyu confirms Videl's suspicions that he's only just warming up and was merely testing her capabilities. Also confirming he still has two more transformations, Ginyu begins to transform into the first reduction form.[2]

Thus Ginyu in his Second Restriction Form is equivalent to Videl when she's using her basic Kaio-ken multiplications.

    Videl Fighting Ginyu

    Ginyu pushing Videl

Now facing her in a superior form,[47] Ginyu is shown to be overwhelming her.[50] Despite using a stronger version of the Kaio-ken, she's unable to change the course of the battle, but is barely able to better defend herself.[51] As the battle heated up, Ginyu took a golden opportunity to break the Z-Sword in half to deprive Videl of her greatest asset.[52] With that being done, Ginyu was able to push Videl much harder, though she was able to still fight back.[53] Starting to grow bored of the fight as Videl grimly realized she has no chance since he's not fighting at his maximum, Ginyu, decides to transform again.[54] Upon transforming into his final form,[55] Ginyu asks both Videl and Old Kaioshin to attack him together, which she immediately forfeits, thus earning him the victory.[56] In the novel right before quitting, Videl used her maximum kaio-ken and fired a Kamehameha, which Ginyu was able to successfully block, though suffered from slight numbness to it, which impressed him.[57]

Thus once in his transformed state, Ginyu virtually outclassed Videl in every single way. When her Z-Sword broke and he transformed again, she stood no chance and ultimately forfeited the match.

    First Round - Statements

Gohan considers him to be "dangerous" alongside many other competitors.[35] Trunks admitted that if he fought Ginyu in the First Restriction Form all those years ago, their battle wouldn't have been so simple.[47] When Ginyu was still in the Second Restriction form, Videl believed she had a chance against him, something both Kulilin and Tenshinhan agreed with.[2] Upon transforming into the First Restriction Form, Ginyu surpassed Freeza and Coola in their strongest forms.[48] Despite being hugely outclassed, Videl still believed she had a small chance against Ginyu when in his First Restriction state.[57] Retrospectively Ginyu admitted that Videl proved herself worthy for him to use his First Restriction Form.[173]

    Ginyu and Freeza Shocked

    Ginyu absolutely shocked

Old Kaioshin believes that Videl would surpass Ginyu if she attained the Ultimate Form.[54] By Piccolo's estimation, Ginyu's final form is on the level of Androids 17, 18, or perhaps even 16 (of Universe 18) when suppressing his power. Due to this, both Goku and Future Trunks wouldn't have stand a chance against him if he used this level of power upon arriving on Earth. Gohan agrees, knowing he now greatly surpasses Freeza and Coola now.[56]

Narratively it was said that Ginyu proved to be "twice" the fight Videl was and the spectators thoroughly enjoyed his fight.[63]

Despite all of his great power, Ginyu is still awed and amazed by superior strength if he witnesses it firsthand. This was first displayed when Trunks became a Super Saiyan and made quick work of Coola.[36][37] Upon seeing the power of Vegetto and Broly during their match, Ginyu was speechless when viewing their fight.[40][41][42][43][44]

    Tournament - Second Round

    Ginyu And Baddack Speeches

    Ginyu challenging Baddack

When the second match officially started, Ginyu was already in his true form while Baddack was in his Super Saiyan state. Ginyu showed no fear as he proudly noted that Baddack had no future and didn't fear his future seeing capabilities.[72] Upon clashing, Baddack immediately retreated in light of Ginyu's incredible power.[73] When in range, Ginyu easily showcased superior strength and speed since he successfully managed to mangle up Baddack and throw him into the ground with just a few blows.[74][75] Believing Baddack to be finished, Ginyu quickly decides to ridicule him, but paid the price when Baddack immediately retaliates.[76] The struggle ended when Baddack successfully blasts Ginyu with a potent energy wave, thus creating a large explosion.[77]

Thus when at this level, Ginyu has the edge, but Baddack can deal significant damage if a opportunity presents itself.

    Ginyu Clobbering Baddack

    Ginyu punching Baddack

Bleeding profusely and his armor destroyed, Ginyu decides to use 100% Full Power to regain a clear superiority over his opponent.[78] With such a massive increase in power, Ginyu begins to trample over Baddack, leaving the older saiyan covered in many wounds.[79][80] As Baddack begins to seriously think on how he was going to win a losing battle, he manages to push back Ginyu for a brief moment.[81][82] However Ginyu's superior speed allowed him to catch Baddack in his Imprisonment Ball.[83] With a single throw towards Universe 18, which Goku deflected with a energy shield, Baddack was left incapacitated and Ginyu scored the official win.[84][85][86]

Thus Ginyu upon going 100% Full Power was simply too much for Baddack, though for a brief season the Saiyan was able to get a few hits in.[174]

    Second Round - Statements

    Vegetto growing irritated

    Vegetto subduing Ginyu and Baddack

Baddack proclaims that both he and Ginyu are no match against the likes of Vegetto and Zen Buu.[72][3] This was proven when Super Saiyan Vegetto effortlessly stomped them both into the ground or when Zen Buu ensnarled them within pieces of his body.[66][68] During his rampage, Zen Buu had a low opinion of them by calling them "cowards" who only displayed "amateurish mockery".[69] However for a brief moment, both Ginyu and Baddack were able to repel Buu when they coordinated their attacks together by protecting each others blind spots.[69]

Baddack understand that he was absolutely no match against Ginyu if he faced him in base form, hence why he immediately went Super Saiyan at the beginning.[63] Ginyu was also unafraid of Baddack, knowing he wasn't a match for him and could end the battle very quickly. No foe besides Videl has ever lived to see their own 'future', and Baddack wouldn't be another exception. His faith in his own power was unshakeable even after seeing Vegetto and Broly, though is cautious enough to no longer stay in the Second Restriction State. However Ginyu did admitted that when he was still in his mutant body, Baddack and his former opponent Raditz definitely surpassed him, which is impressive since he was the strongest being in existence after the Frost Demons.[173]

After a few blows with Baddack, Ginyu concluded that the Saiyan was indeed beneath him in skill level and power. When releasing more power, Ginyu even admitted that his "sons" couldn't dare to hope to handle this level of strength.[173] After using 100% Full Power, Ginyu teased to Baddack that he had far more power in reserve, which indicated that the Saiyan was truly no match for him at any point.[174]

When at 100% percent, Ginyu is equivalent to Semi-Perfect Cell's level. Android 16 admitted that Ginyu has surpassed him.[173]

    Tournament - Third Round

When Ginyu convinced Bra to not use any of her transformations[95], Ginyu powered up into his First and Second Augmentation states to gain a realistic chance against the saiyan hybrid.[96][97][98][99] This heavily implies that any level below Second Augmentation isn't enough to combat against Bra in her base form.

    Ginyu Fiery Escape

    Ginyu's fiery charge

Upon engaging against Bra, a single punch to the face didn't do much damage, merely amusing the demon king.[100] He was then able to hold his own against Bra, even successfully nicking her cheek with his spiked tail.[101] Upon firing a ki blast at nearly point blank range, Bra was forced to teleport away, which allowed Ginyu to mock her attack power.[102][103] However quickly afterwards, Ginyu was overwhelmed was several of his ki blasts in addition to Bra's struct him all at once.[104][105][106][107][108][109][110][111]

Thus at this point in combat, Ginyu is stronger, but can be outsmarted and damaged from his own attacks.

    Ginyu Multiple Punches

    Ginyu's punch barrage

When Bra unleashed a powerful attack, Ginyu rushed out from the explosion.[112] Despite sporting fresh wounds, Ginyu was still nimble enough to avoid the attacks while rushing after his target of interest.[113] One punch from him nearly caved in Bra's chest, forcing the girl to cough up copious amounts of blood. Ginyu then released countless punches on her, which horrified those that watched.[114][115] When Bra finally escaped, she was brutalized almost beyond recognition before she collapsed on the ring, making Ginyu smirk in a near-victorious manner.[116] To end the battle prematurely, Ginyu used his Tsubi Kienzan and launched them at Bra, but was horrified when she revitalized herself with senzu beans.[117][118][119] When Bra defeated one of Ginyu's Kienzan, she became more serious in their duel.[120][121] Ginyu suffered a slash across his abdomen before quickly becoming immobilized from her clone technique.[122][123] Ginyu was then attacked by Bra's Spirit Scythe, thus was nearly cut in half from the attack.[124][125] Severely wounded, The Vargas began the countdown as Ginyu was unable to stand anymore. While congratulating Bra, Ginyu used his Body Change technique to switch bodies with her and snatch the victory at the last second.[126][127] This allowed him to go into Universe 16 in Bra's body as she was taken by the other Frost Demons.[128][129]

Thus when Bra became serious and began using her more advanced techniques, Ginyu was overwhelmed before receiving a devastating wound. However his Body Change technique allowed him to snatch the victory and attain a even more powerful body compared to King Cold.

    Third Round - Statements

    Ginyu Analysis

    Piccolo and Goku analyzing Ginyu

When Bra faced Ginyu in his true form, she had no regard for him. She believed that the arena's gravity was more dangerous and could defeat him with just her breath alone, thus she had no use for Super Saiyan, hands, or feet.[94] She further went on to say that her untransformed pinky could defeat Ginyu.[95] Ginyu retorted that he's much stronger than his "children" and without Super Saiyan, no Saiyans would be able to defeat their kind.[94][95] When she saw him go into the First Augmentation Form, she noted that he now has a small chance against her.[97] All of Universe 8 was in shock by the power Ginyu emitted from his First Augmentation form, which also made Coola nearly faint from sheer shock since Ginyu was already ten time stronger than his absolute maximum.[92] When Ginyu went into Second Augmentation, she believed the fight would now make for good training.[99] Ginyu internally admitted at at the start of his fight against Bra when in Second Augmentation, he was far from pushing his energy to the maximum.[92] Bra admitted she could have been killed instantly if his tail attack connected with her.[92]

Piccolo was amazed when he saw Ginyu going into the Second Augmentation Form, never thinking for a second that a Frost Demon could ever reach a state. He equates Ginyu being as strong as Perfect Cell before his failed suicide. Due to his high power, Gohan immediately told Bra to cancel the bet she made with Ginyu.[99] Vegeta, adding to Piccolo's statement, believes he's still holding back the bulk of his power and even Gohan when he first reached Super Saiyan 2 would have struggled against him.[92] Cell also admitted that he may have lost to Ginyu around the era of his Cell Games.[92] As the fight got started, despite Bra's smugness, Piccolo noted that Ginyu was indeed stronger, faster, and tougher.[104] Even Zen Buu was impressed by the prowess Ginyu displayed in his highest form.[175] Babidi was also very interested in Ginyu, viewing his overall potential to rival that of Dabra.[175]

    Being Son Bra

    Ginyu Bra Super Saiyan Body

    Ginyu in Super Saiyan state

When inside of Bra's body, Ginyu wasn't afraid when Vegetto kidnapped and threatened to extinguish his soul. Ginyu even nonchalantly waved at the Frost Demons despite the danger he was in.[132][133] Attempting to kill Bra with a Mouth Energy Wave, it failed due to Vegetto's quick teleportation reflexes.[134] Upon receiving a head slam on the ground, Ginyu remained relatively unharmed and proceeded to become a Super Saiyan to test out his new body.[135] However Vegetto also transforms before easily blocking all of Ginyu's moves before putting him into submission with one blow.[136]

Thus when being in Base or Super Saiyan, Ginyu is no match against Vegetto in the same state. However Ginyu felt confident he could have killed Bra with his Mouth Energy Wave.

    Vegetto ending Ginyu

    Ginyu Vs SSJ3 Vegetto

Claiming to have mastered Bra's power very well, Ginyu transforms into a Super Saiyan 2, which surprises Vegetto before mimicking the exact transformation on his end.[137] Briefly colliding their powers together, Ginyu begins to launch multiple energy blasts as Vegetto mocks him.[138] However to Ginyu's horror, all his blows failed and receiving a devastating punch to the face when Vegetto became Super Saiyan 3.[139] When picked up and forced to give a ultimatum, Ginyu became desperate and attempted to use his Body Change move again.[140] However it failed and Ginyu was tricked into switching back with Bra, thus ending his involvement in the affair.[141]

Thus even with Super Saiyan 2, Ginyu was unable to overpower Vegetto and was beaten in one blow once Vegetto went Super Saiyan 3. Then ultimately Ginyu went back into King Cold's body as Bra regained her own.

    Being Son Bra - Statements

When in Bra's body in Super Saiyan form, Ginyu was impressed by the power and found it incredible. However when using it full power, he was no match for Vegetto in the same state, surmising that he was likely only using just half to best his new body.[144] Zen Buu confirms that Gohan would be no match for Ginyu when being an Super Saiyan 2. When in this state, Ginyu believes he can casually destroy an entire solar system without even trying.[144]

Vegetto claims that since Ginyu was in Bra's body, he didn't come close to a tenth of his overall power like everybody else in the universe.[136] Upon transforming into a Super Saiyan 2, Ginyu believed that his power wasn't too far away from Vegetto's own. However the fused saiyan accused him of being too drunk on power that wasn't his, thus debunking his statement.[138] Ginyu believes that if he had taken Vegetto's body, he would reach the very peaks of godhood since he would become the most powerful being in the entire universe. Thus nothing would be able to stand before him, leaving Ginyu to become the master of all.[144]

    Majin Rebellion

    Coola Majin Transformation

    Ginyu attacking Piccolo

When Piccolo challenged Universe 8 alone and began making fools out of Freeza and Coola, Ginyu was forced to intervene. Immediately powering up into his 100& Full Power form, Ginyu was unable to hit Piccolo and received a devastating kick to the head.[147] Due to the challenge and humiliation suffered, Ginyu immediately transformed into the First Augmentation state.[148] Once completed, Ginyu felt confident he could turn the tide of the battle to his favor since the new form was more suitable for longer battles.[149]

Thus Ginyu is no match for Piccolo when using 100% Full Power form, but became more confident when he transformed into the Augmentation state.

    Majin Ginyu Paralyzed

    Ginyu fighting Piccolo

After some intense aerial, yet offscreen fighting, Ginyu and "sons" were able to push Piccolo hard in their battle. Ginyu then witnesses the Super Namekian humiliating the other two Frost Demons with ease.[150] Seeing a opening, Ginyu strikes Piccolo that does significant damage, though Piccolo manages to block the consecutive strike before getting ganged on again.[151] Before Ginyu could continue his assault on Piccolo, West Kaioshin intervenes to take control of the fight against the eldest Frost Demon.[152]

Thus Ginyu by himself is more than a match for Piccolo since the Super Namekian struggled against him. When allied with both Freeza and Coola, it becomes too much for Piccolo to handle.

    Majin Ginyu Powering Up

    Ginyu Transforming

Unable to budge in West Kaioshin's telekinetic hold, Ginyu was then repelled by the goddess and unable to do anything. The damage was severe enough to draw blood.[153] As the battle continues to rage on, Ginyu is still unable to overpower her powers, and sporting even more injuries.[154] Appearing to be on the verge of defeat and West Kaioshin demanding him to give up and call back his men, Ginyu immediately begins to power up.[155] Despite North Kaioshin also joining the fight, both were easily captured by Ginyu, now in his Second Augmentation state.[156]

Thus Ginyu in the First Augmentation state was inferior compared to West Kaioshin's majestic capabilities. But upon transforming again into the Second Augmentation state, he was able to overpower her and North.

    Gohan Blasting Ginyu

    Ginyu about to die

Holding his own against both Kaioshin, the sudden intervention of East Kaioshin caused Ginyu to lose his grip on the other two upon being smacked.[157] Later on, Ginyu was restrained by all three and forced to use his Body Change move to make any sort of headway.[158] With this ingenious tactic, Ginyu was able to successfully kill East, West, and North Kaioshin with this ploy, though he had to sacrifice Griyon in the process.[159][160][161][162][163] However, Gohan firing a single energy wave was more than what Ginyu could handle and was killed on the spot.[164][165]

Thus Ginyu with wits could kill three Kaioshin in combat, but was absolutely no match for Gohan at any capacity.

    Majin Rebellion - Statements

    Ginyu and Freeza Transforming

    Ginyu and Freeza Transforming

Piccolo immediately sensed and became alarmed when Ginyu joined the rest of Universe 8. Piccolo also admitted that Ginyu would outmatch once in the First Augmentation form, and would have no chance if he transformed again.[5] When the transformation was completed, Piccolo admitted again that Ginyu surpassed him before majinization, which became worse now he's possessed by Babidi.[5] Piccolo noted that fighting against Ginyu, Freeza, and Coola in their Augmentation states was simply too much.[151] However Piccolo confirms that Ginyu greatly far surpasses the other two.[152] Upon viewing Ginyu's battle with Piccolo, West Kaioshin also concluded that Ginyu far surpassed the Namekian. West Kaioshin also admitted she couldn't last for long against Ginyu, though her skill in telekinesis could give her the edge she needed.[176] West Kaioshin admitted that Ginyu's power level surpassed Dabra and feared him going into his next transformation.[176] But upon seeing West Kaioshin handling Ginyu, Piccolo concluded that the Kaioshin overall still surpass the Frost Demons in might.[177] Due to his battle against Ginyu, Piccolo had little energy to use against Freeza and Coola.[178]

West Kaioshin admitted that Ginyu's power far surpassed King Cold and his sons from Universe 1, which made her compare him to other great evils like Majin Buu or the Legendary Super Saiyan. She also admitted that Ginyu was better than her despite being a being from the lower realms, which brought fear into her heart[4] When in the Second Augmentation state, Ginyu's power surpasses Dabra.[4]

    Zen Buu's Second Rampage

    Frost Demons Free From Buu

Ginyu and "sons" relieved of Zen Buu

When Buu went on his second and last rampage in the tournament, Ginyu alongside Freeza and Coola was unable to overpower the djinn in any capacity.[171] But thanks to the geniuses of the organizers, all of Universe 8 was spared from further fighting.[172]

Thus like many others, Ginyu is unable to overpower Buu during their skirmish. However since most of the fight happened offscreen, it unknown how well Ginyu actually did, let alone if he used any Augmentation forms.

    Author Statements

Salagir has confirmed that the boost from Majinization can never be taken away even after possession ends. Thus Ginyu has received a permanent power up once the Majin Invasion concluded.

Asura has confirmed that Ginyu when first displaying his Second Augmentation form to Son Bra has a power level close to Perfect Cell before his failed suicide.[179] Npberryhill, the English translator for the novel expressed that a Majinized Ginyu in the First Augmentation state is able to defeat Cell Games era Gohan as an Super Saiyan 2. When in the Majinized Second Augmentation state, Ginyu is in the high SSJ2-tier level. While it unknown if he could defeat Majin Vegeta back in the Buu Saga, but a Super Saiyan 3 could still defeat him. Nonetheless Ginyu never needed to use his full power in the First Augmentation state when fighting Piccolo during the Majin Rebellion.[180] However Arctika, the main new author for the novel confirmed that Ginyu in his Majinized First Augmentation form isn't stronger than Dabra.[181]

    Traits

Enhanced Strength: When just in his First Restriction Form, Ginyu is strong enough to easily destroy the Z-Sword with a single punch.[52]

Enhanced Durability: While fighting Videl in the First Restricted Form, Ginyu only suffered a small wound when the Z-Sword nicked him. Due to this, Ginyu congratulated Videl for being the first one to wound him in many years.[48] During the second round, 100G's was no issue for Ginyu to handle.[63]

Enhanced Hearing: When in his Second Augmentation State, Ginyu overhears Uub's statement that Bra's energy is very weak to be sensed.[117]

Bio-Electrical Aura: When in the Second Augmentation state, Ginyu can use it offensively where he could electrocute captured opponents within his grasp.[175]

    Techniques

Flight: The ability to levitate by manipulating one's ki. Ginyu has used this many times over the course of his life, most prominently during his battle with Goku and Videl.[14][51]

Telepathy: The ability to communicate using just one's own mind. Ginyu used this to speak to Vegetto when in outer space.[1]

Kiai: An invisible push of energy to repel any objects before the user. Ginyu used this to deflect the ki blasts aimed at him during his fight against Son Bra.[175]

Ki Blast: A powerful ball of energy that can be fired at various intervals. When in the body of Nemokid, he used this to kill the real Nemokid who was now stuck in Poar's body.[27] When battling Baddack in the novel, Ginyu fired a sole heat-seeking version.[174] Used against Son Bra during the third round as King Cold, which greatly resembles a Supernova.[102][103][92] When in Bra's body, Ginyu also used this against Vegetto.[138]

Body Change: Captain Ginyu's signature technique that allows him to swap bodies with his preferred opponent. According to Poar in terms of sensations, he only saw a flash of bright light and experienced the impression of suffocation as something went in and out of his mouth. Ginyu used the technique many times in the past to escape death from Freeza, with King Cold, Bra from Universe 16 and the Gods of Universe 1 being his most recent swaps. According to Ginyu, handling dormant power is his specialty, which allows him to become a better version of the original host.[144]

Imprisonment Ball: Once close to the opponent, the user can ensnarl them in an inescapable golden sphere of energy. The user can then toy around with this containment like a soccer ball. When finished beating on the victim inside, the user can kick the ball into a solid surface to detonate it. Used at 100% Full Power to capture Baddack and throw him into Universe 18's area.[83][84][85][86]

Afterimage Technique: A impressive support technique that creates a image of the user upon swiftly moving around the immediate vicinity. Used against Baddack during the second round to dodge his attack.[80] Also called Sonic Warp or Wild Sense.

Homing Death Blitz (Unnamed): After crossing his arms and charging ten miniature energy blasts, Ginyu swipes both of his arms to launch the blasts at his opponent as heat-seeking missiles. Used against Son Bra during the third round.[104][105]

Kienzan: A razor sharp energy disk that can slice through almost anything. Used to bifurcate Vegetto's body apart while still in Bra's body.[138] Also called Destructo Disc.

Tsubi Kienzan: A powerful pinkish-red energy disk that can cut through almost anything while possessing homing capabilities. Ginyu created four on each of his arms when fighting against Son Bra during the third round, though they missed with one being cut down from her spirit sword.[117][118][119][120][121] Also called the Death Slicer.

Mouth Energy Wave: A potent blast of energy that fired from the mouth. Used in attempt to kill Son Bra while still being trapped in Cold's body, but Vegetto prevented her death by teleporting him and Ginyu away.[134]

Energy Blade: Forming a blade of energy over one's hands, the user can cut things they normally would struggle with. In the novel when in West Kaioshin's body, Ginyu used this to prepare to cut his own throat apart.[6]

    Captain Ginyu inhabiting Cold's body

Sometime after Ginyu escaped death by swapping bodies with several of Freeza's soldiers, Ginyu stole King Cold's body and subsequently killed him. Ginyu was able to deceive Freeza and Coola, along with the entire organization. It was revealed that Ginyu was in fact in Cold's body after he swapped bodies with Bra. Due to possessing King Cold's Body at some distant point, Captain Ginyu gained access to his transformations, while mastering and discovering some new ones.

According to Ginyu, mastering King Cold's power was nearly impossible to properly control.[1] Nonetheless Ginyu boasts that he could handle King Cold's original form from the beginning.[144] Ginyu proclaims that his power level multiplies about four to five times with each transformation in this body (unlike a average Frost Demon's multiplier usually being about two-fold).[2]

    Transformations (Current)

    Third Restriction Form

Ginyu has access to this form while in Cold's body. While Captain Ginyu does possess this form, he has yet to be seen utilizing it yet in any format.

    Second Restriction Form

    King Cold Second Restriction

    Ginyu in Second Restriction Form

Ginyu has access to this form while in Cold's body. Captain Ginyu uses this form before and at the start of the tournament, however, he transforms for his first match. In this form he is comparable to Freeza and Coola in their true forms.

    First Restriction Form

    King Cold First Restriction

    Ginyu in First Restriction Form

Ginyu has access to this form while in Cold's body. Ginyu escalates to this form in his fight with Videl of Universe 9 as he realizes he will need more strength to defeat such powerful opponents. In this form he is stronger than both 100% Full Power Freeza, and Fifth Form Coola. Ginyu's voice changes whenever he access this form.[48] Ginyu also admitted that he rarely uses this form, let alone it wasn't his favorite.[173]

So far Ginyu has only used this once in all of DBM. It was used against Videl during the Multiverse Tournament's First Round. It was quickly skipped over in favor of his true form. According to Coola, he hasn't seen his father's body use this transformation in decades.[48]

    True Form

    King Cold True Form

    Ginyu in True Form

Ginyu has access to this form while in Cold's body. During the fight with Videl, he pushes up to his true form, surprising his sons who as they had never seen him safely access it. According to Coola, the last time "Ginyu" used this form was when he carried Freeza long ago. Though Ginyu is still not at his maximum, his power level still grows to the extent that it is comparable to Androids 17 and 18, or even 16. Piccolo states that if he had possessed this form back when he first appeared, neither Goku or future Trunks would have been able to beat him.

So far Ginyu has preferred this to be his "main" state following the conclusion of his fight against Videl.

    True Form (100% Full Power)

    Full Power Cold (Universe 8)

    Ginyu in 100%

Ginyu has access to this form while in Cold's body. While fighting Baddack, Ginyu powers up to 100% full power in one second. Similar to Freeza's 100% power form, his muscle mass significantly increases and gains a spherical aura strong enough to deflect ki blasts. Unlike most bulked up forms, Ginyu's speed actually increases in this state.[174] It is currently unknown whether he suffers the same drawback's of Freeza's 100% power form, which was the rapid depletion of his stamina, which Goku implies that he could. However, this could be possibly mitigated thanks to Ginyu's training.

Ginyu has only used this twice in all of DBM. First time was against Baddack during the Multiverse Tournament's Second Round. It latest usage was against Piccolo during the Majin Invasion.

    Augmentation Form

    King Cold First Augmentation

    Ginyu in First Augmentation Form

Ginyu has access to this form while in Cold's body, achieving it after countless hours of intense training. This form looks very similar to his son's version of this form. In his First Augmentation form, King Cold becomes noticeable taller in addition being far more muscular. Cold grows out lots of horns all over his body (his ankles, forearms, back, shoulders, head, and tail) as his head design changes with pure red eyes adorning his face. Lastly, his shoulders extend a bit. It is unknown how powerful this form is, as Ginyu quickly ascends into his Second Augmentation form. An estimation would place this form's power in between the Android-tier and that of Perfect Cell's.

So far Ginyu has only used this three times in all of DBM. Chronologically the first time he used this when he first unlocked it after a intense bout of training. Second time was briefly during his brawl against Bra during the Multiverse Tournament's third Round. It latest usage was to battle against Piccolo, followed by West Kaioshin after being Majinized.

    Second Augmentation Form

    King Cold Second Augmentation

    Ginyu in Second Augmentation Form

Ginyu has access to this form while in Cold's body, achieving it after countless hours of intense training. After he transforms into his first augmentation form, he transforms even further, into his second augmentation form. When transformed into his Second Augmentation form, King Cold fundamentally looks like a giant version of his First Restriction form. His head cranium extends immensely as he attains multiple sets of horns. His face once again becomes distorted, but has pure red eyes like his previous state. Interestingly, King Cold gains a second set of arms, thus granting him four arms to utilize in combat. His claws become much longer, as his tail's tip becomes very sharp and bony. Lastly, he has bio-electricity constantly surging around his entire body.

In this state, his power level is estimated by Goku and Piccolo to be close to Perfect Cell's at the time of the Cell Games.

Ginyu has only used this two times in all of DBM. First time was during his battle against Bra during the Multiverse Tournament's third Round. It latest usage was to battle against West, North, and East Kaioshin, though Ginyu was subsequently killed by Gohan.

    Forms (Former)

Over the course of multiple decades, Captain Ginyu has been in various bodies.

    Original body

In the novel, Freeza mentioned that Ginyu's mutant body was in fact not his original body. Freeza stated that he was a low-class soldier, until he stole the body of a powerful horned-purple-skinned mutant.[7] Ginyu's original body was never revealed in the novel or manga.

    Multiple Animal bodies

When trying to master his Body Change technique, Ginyu by accident has ended up in various animal bodies. Members of his own race always helped Ginyu to return back to his original body.[6]

    Mutant body

    CapGinyu8 color

    Ginyu in his mutant body

Ginyu inhabited this body after stealing it from a powerful 'demonic' mutant on a distant planet. He used this form for many years, becoming iconic for him when in Freeza's military since he never encountered a stronger body to steal.[7] According to Ginyu after being inside King Cold's body for so long, he was the strongest being in existence after the Frost Demons when in this state.[173] He briefly lost it when he changed with Nail, but regained it before being nearly killed by Freeza for his failure of not defeating Goku.[15][22] This body was officially cremated on January 1, Age 763.[7]

Ginyu inhabited Nail's body accidentally by attempting to switch bodies with Goku, but Nail threw himself in front of the technique to protect Goku.[15] Later on Ginyu successfully switched back to his Mutant body.[22]

    Poar's body

Ginyu stole Nemokid's body after going on a mission to conquer a planet in Poar's body, until swapping bodies with a bedridden friend. This body officially died on June 6, Age 784 after Ginyu swapped bodies with an old friend whom was on his deathbed so he could live and enjoy retirement.[7]

    Several bodies

    Ginyu Bodies

    Ginyu in various bodies

Ginyu stole several bodies while hiding from Freeza. Some of the bodies he utilized was that of a bedridden friend, a male nurse, a seven year old child, a police officer and many more to regain power and rank.[27] Some of the last bodies he had stolen were that of Kurona, Dremo, Tup-Tup and Nekeru.[29][182] This practice stopped for a few decades after taking over the body of King Cold.[30][31] By Ginyu's own admission, he's been in "hundreds" of bodies.[6]

    Son Bra's body

    Ginyu in Bra's body

After a long struggle between him and Bra, Bra won the match, leaving Ginyu in critical condition. He quickly switched bodies with Bra, leaving Bra in Cold's body, on the brink of death. Ginyu considers this the 'best' body, though ironic due to his natural disdain for Saiyans in general.[1] When in this state, Ginyu considered keeping Son Bra's name as his new one, though also considered calling himself "Mademoiselle Ginyu".[1] Ginyu lost this body and returned to King Cold after losing against Vegetto.

Ginyu when in this body mastered every fiber of it. Compared to King Cold, controlling her power was quite simple.[1]

    Ginyu in Majinization state

Ginyu was possessed by Babidi of Universe 11 along with Freeza and Coola.[144] When in this state, Ginyu possessed the Majin Seal on his forehead, pronounced veins over his body, and darker eye trims. It was permanently removed when Zen Buu revived him.

    Weaknesses

    Body Change

If Ginyu tries to change bodies with someone who is "pure of heart", he won't be able to access their full power. And if someone intervenes between him and his target of choice, he risks changing with the intruder instead. Also if he's unable to change in time, he risks dying to a strong attack hitting his current body.

    Psychokinesis

Unlike Freeza, Ginyu has neglected to train in this field in favor of physical strength and energy attacks, which is why the Kaioshin's of Universe 1 were able to hold him in place via telekinesis.[6]

    Evil Heart

Due to possessing profound wickedness in his soul, Ginyu is susceptible to being possessed by Babidi's possession magic.

    Trivia

    • Ginyu's name, along with the rest of the Ginyu Force, is a pun on a dairy product. Ginyu's name is a pun on gyūnyū (牛乳), a Japanese name for dairy milk.
    • Interestingly, "King Cold" first True form appearance on Page 411 has him with spiky protrusions on both his forearms and ankles. They subsequently disappear in all of his following appearances.
    • Interestingly, in "U8 - The two last survivors", Ginyu wears a blue scouter instead of green.
    • It remains unknown if Ginyu would ever use some techniques he used in canon media such as Milky Cannon, Galaxy Dynamite, Dynamite Pressure, Finger Beam, Full-Nelson, Dynamite Punch, Explosive Wave, and Telekinesis. This includes all the techniques King Cold could do as well.
    • Among the countless body changes over the years, Ginyu has only failed onscreen a handful of times. When trying to change with Goku, Nail intervened and they swapped instead. When trying to switch back with Nail, Guldo intervened and paralyzed Ginyu. Trying to switch with Vegetto to become the strongest being, Ginyu was too slow to make the change. And when trying to switch with Gohan, he was again too slow and died from the encounter.
