  • Babidi (バビディ, Babidi) from Universe 11 was an evil sorcerer who came to the Multiverse Tournament as a spectator. He has the magical power to enslave people who lack a pure heart, utilizing this magic to spark the horrific Majin Invasion.

After the invasion was over, the tournament staff sent Babidi and the rest of Universe 11 back to their universe, where Dabra, who was freed from his mind control, killed Babidi by turning him into stone.

    Appearance[]

Babidi is a diminutive and green-skinned alien with a yellow tint to his pigmentation. Largely bald with several individual strands of hair darting over his head, Babidi has green eyes and rectangular shaped ears while two whiskers rest on his chin. Clothing-wise he wears brown shoes, light blue gown, black chest piece, orange cape, and a belt that stylized with the Majin insignia.

    Personality[]

Babidi is a merciless sorcerer and feels no remorse for eliminating anyone, even his most loyal followers, considering them fodder for his main plan. He kills those who outlive their usefulness simply to satisfy his sadistic indulgence, showing that he only cares for his own life and no other. Whenever under imminent threat, he is shown fleeing or panicking, revealing the true cowardice and defenselessness beneath his pretentious, self-entitled exterior. When facing someone weaker than himself, or when he is assisted by one of his much stronger followers, Babidi will constantly mock his opponents and taunt them. However, when in the face of complete danger, Babidi will whine and shiver in fright, losing his composure and diabolical attitude and will stoop to any level just to save his own life. He is also extremely arrogant and hypocritical, which usually results in a negative outcome for him.

Despite his general cruelty and arrogance, Babidi appears to be noticeably more intelligent than his main-universe counterpart. He demonstrates a good grasp of tactics, as well as recognizing the strengths and weaknesses of his allies. He can also come up with reasonably complex plans, and is willing to hold off on acting until victory seems assured, going so far as to possess every single evil-aligned individual in the tournament before making his move. While he has little regard for the well-being of his servants, he does recognize valuable ones, particularly Baddack.

    History[]

    Overview[]

Babidi has the exact same life as his canon counterpart, existing for over five million years though it takes a drastic turn for his benefit when trying to revive Majin Buu on Planet Earth. The divergence from Universe 18 occurred due to Cell never coming into the picture despite Future Trunks arriving to combat against Dr. Gero's androids.[1]

    Birth[]

Five million years ago and four years after Bibidi took down most of the Kaioshins, Babidi was the youngest and last cloned son Bibidi created during the growth of his empire to one day help manage the various planets across his kingdom. Still a newborn in one of Bibidi's many lairs, Bibidi hopes that he will carry on his will to continue his dynasty as he and Babidi's many siblings were killed by East Kaioshin while Buu's shell was locked away on a mountain on Earth.[2]

    Releasing Buu / Universal Domination[]

Many millenniums later since his sealing, Babidi, the son of Bibidi, travels to Earth alongside with Dabra to release Majin Buu and gain control of his power.[2]

In Universe 11, Babidi never lost control of Majin Buu, and Buu never ate Dabra. It is currently unknown what changes happened in Universe 11 for these occurrences to exist despite the Z-fighters should still be alive. It is however known that Babidi did attempt to control Vegeta, though his fate remains unknown since he failed to obey the dark wizard.[3]

It is presumed that Babidi later gained control of the Universe, or a vast majority of it with Buu and Dabra being his main enforcers. Eventually the Vargas discovered them and allowed them to join the Multiverse Tournament, which they accepted.

It is unknown if Babidi ever faced Broly in his universe.[4]

    Multiverse Tournament[]

First Round: Lots of Old Foes Here[]

As Gohan is observing the dangers present on the tournament grounds, he sees Babidi smirking with Majin Buu and Dabra behind them in the universe's space.[5]

First Round: Uub and Buu get the Honors[]

When Buu was called to fight against Bujin, Babidi cheers for Buu as the djinn flies to the arena.[6] When Buu is victorious and flies back to the balcony, Babidi congratulates him that he did really well.[7]

When Uub lost his arm while fighting Tidar, Babidi offered to heal him, but not for free.[8] When Uub refused, stating that he was ashamed his powers came from him as Piccolo pointed in that they did not want to have anything to do with his deceitful tricks, Babidi told them they can just bleed out then. Then Buu from Universe 4 healed Uub, which made Babidi to mistakenly point the finger at his own Buu and lambast him since he didn't give the order. Zen Buu then reveals he did it to hassle Babidi or because he sensed himself in Uub, or even on the grounds he feels connected to them since they live as absorbed beings in his body now.[9]

In the novel, Babidi is shown to be envious of the Buu from Universe 4 and sees him as the "real" Buu that his father had created, unlike the Buu from his universe.

First Round: Pan's First Fight to the Death[]

After witnessing the death of Pan and seeing her father's reaction towards Bra, Babidi dryly points out that they are all wimps and he not complaining that Dabra died, though Dabra weakly cries out to be healed as Buu requests if he could eat the fallen demon king.[10]

First Round: The Lunch Break we've all waited for[]

While trying to eat, Babidi becomes greatly mad at Buu when he begins transforming his dishes into candy, ignoring Dabra's cries to be healed.[11]

When Broly is released and begins going on a rampage, Babidi is terrified at the destruction he is causing.[12]

    First Round: Vegetto's Last Resources[]

When Vegetto and Broly release their signature attacks, Babidi creates a energy shield to endure the subsequent explosion.[13]

First Round: What left of a Cyborg without humanity[]

As everyone still marveling over Vegetto's impressive victory over Broly, Babidi remains unimpressed and proudly states that Buu can do much better and asks him to agree, which confuses the djinn.[14]

First Round: Saiyans, Nameks, and other Demons[]

Upon seeing Dabra being healed and being shocked to the point that he demands to know how, he learns from Buu that the djinn did it to attain a piece of candy. Dumbfounded, Babidi calls Buu a fool since that was candy he himself created during lunch.[15] Later on though he remains unseen, Babidi is having dinner with Buu.[16]

    A Good Night's Sleep[]

Hearing the musical interlude before the second round, Babidi instantly hates it by clogging his ears and stating it sounds like a exploding glaviot since it so horrible.[17]

Second Round: Off to the Second Round[]

During the countdown between Buu and South Kaioshin's fight, Babidi begins to grow irritated since he was beginning to create a dirty feeling that he was the only one who didn't understand on what was happening.[18] When Buu came back to his space and Babidi started congratulated him, he silently witnesses South Kaioshin appearing out of Buu's body before talking to Dabra and leaving.[19]

    Second Round: XXI[]

During Zen Buu's rampage, Babidi is both restrained and gagged as the djinn talks to his universe's Majin Buu.[20]

Second Round: The Fight of the Fathers[]

With Zen Buu neutralized, Dabra suggests they get good with the organizers since Babidi has the power to seal him forever. Telling Dabra to shut up as he may consider it, Babidi has a deep thought that he cannot take the chance since the spell may also imprison his Buu as well.[21]

Third Round: Facing the Opponent that made you who you are[]

Upon seeing Majin Buu being held captive by Uub's technique, Babidi becomes shocked at what he is witnessing.[22] Attempting to interfere with the battle by casting a spell, but both East and South Kaioshins stop him from doing so with East covering his mouth, resulting in Majin Buu losing to Uub. Beyond angry, Babidi is seething is rage as East Kaioshin begins to walk away.[23]

Infuriated by this turn of events while back in the apartment, Babadi fins the situation to be unacceptable that cheating him out. Tired of playing around, Babidi decides to take control of the situation where everyone will either be controlled or destroyed. As Dabra suggests to create an army of elites under his control with the Majin Seal, Babidi happily notices that his magic easily passes through their walls without their notice, which will allow him to take victims one by one. Dabra then suggests to start with Vegetto since he is the strongest and not the purest among them.[24] Deciding to not do so since he part Vegeta and aims to not go after any since their Vegeta was rebellious from the control, Babidi notes that the Vegeta from Universe 18 doesn't seem to have any evil left in him. Deciding to be discreet, Babidi decides to hide the Majin seal in the meantime as he enslaves most of the fighters. Quickly after, Babidi takes over the mind of King Piccolo.[3]

    Third Round: Sinister Creations[]

Without being noticed, Babidi takes over the mind of a spectator and a Vargas in the control center.[25] With four spectators now in control, Babidi behind the scenes commands them to go to Universe 18's inner apartment.[26] Almost simultaneously, Babidi possesses the minds of Kakarotto and Nappa, commanding them to do nothing just yet.[27] In the meantime the squadron consisting of the four spectators were thoroughly defeated by Videl.[28] When Cell won against Tapion, Babidi then tries to possess the powerful bio-android.[29]

Third Round: The New Abilities of Fusion[]

As the four spectators are bound and about to be sent back to their universe as the Vargas make a investigation,[30] it is later shown that Jeece, Butta, and another soldier from Universe 8 have been possessed.[31]

    Third Round: Drop the Act[]

Babidi then goes on to possess Freeza and Coola of Universe 8.[32] Laughing diabolically, Babidi happily states a challenge that which beings in existence corrupted by evil are strong enough to resist the most ancient of magics as the frost demons offscreen yield to him.[33]

Third Round: All of the Hatred of the World[]

Later on, during Gast Carcolh and Dr. Raichi's battle, Babidi seemed to enjoy the noise Hatchiyack produced, as he said it "has a lovely tune".[34] When Baddack is talking to himself mentally, Babidi commands him to comes to his location immediately, which he obeys without question.[35] When it time to initiate the rebellion, Babidi concentrates for five minutes without moving before realizing that he cannot transform the apartments into magic rooms since they are "too vast". Babidi then opens a metallic plate in the middle of the arena.[36] With the scene set and infamously chanting his 'papparapa', the chosen contestants he has no need far are instantly teleported away.[37] With the invasion in full swing, Babidi happily asks Baddack on what he sees in the future, which the Saiyan replies that he cannot control when it occurs.[38] With the situation looking favorable to him, Babidi darkly proclaims that soon all of the universes will be underneath his control.[39]

    Babidi's Trap[]

As the contestants are teleported a few billion parsecs away,[40] Babidi manages to evade Gohan when he sees 'nobody' when he breaks into the apartment of Universe 11.[41] When Baddack has a dark vision of seeing Buu being defeated and Babidi killed by Gohan, he grimy advises that they need to set up a few traps since they still have a few minutes left.[42]

    Budokai Royale 2: Supersonic Blast[]

Enjoying the events from what he seeing from his crystal ball, Babidi states that his forces are gaining ground.[43]

    Budokai Royale 4: Heroes Fury[]

When Gohan finally breaks into the inner dimension, Babidi happily sees Baddack ordering Majin Buu to absorb the Saiyan hybrid.[44] When Gohan repels Buu, which forces Babidi to create his energy shield, he quickly uses his magic to teleport Gohan and Buu away when Baddack gave the signal.[45] When Gohan fires his Maxi-Kienzan towards the Universe 11 apartments, both Babidi and Baddack became terrified when it breached.[46] With Baddack getting killed and about to be murdered himself, Babidi braces for impact only to be saved at the last moment.[47] When the dust finally settles, it was revealed that Son Bra was the one responsible for saving him, now Majinized and in her Super Saiyan 2 state as Babidi gleams with joy next to her.[48]

    Budokai Royale 5: Final Battle[]

With the final battle set, Babidi orders Bra to kill them all, but also be mindful of his security as well. He then sees Bra creating a energy barrier around him, promising that it will protect him while she is away.[49] Later on Babidi becomes greatly alarmed when Gohan from Universe 18 rushes behind him in attempt to take his life.[50] He is saved yet again with Bra's intervention by blocking Gohan's punch with a energy blast.[51] When the dust settles, Babidi is surrounded by destruction as he still inside of the energy shield, safe from harm.[52] When Cell charges at him, Babidi desperately tells the bio-android to obey him, though to no avail.[53] Quickly after both Phipsil and Nedwook between shooting lasers through Babidi's shield, forcing Bra to save him yet again by yanking him away to safety.[54] When they land, Babidi, still fearful of his life, watches the resistance float before them to take him and Bra down.[55]

    Budokai Royale 6: Raging Dokkan[]

As the situation looks dire, Bra quickly creates a massive energy barrier around them before teleporting away.[56] Now deep in space, Bra informs Babidi that only she knows where he is at and will come back to rescue him once she finishes them all. Begging her to not leave, she tells him that he has at least ten minutes of oxygen before disappearing.[57]

    Budokai Royale 7: Infinite Butoden[]

    Babidi irritated

    Babidi annoyed by his circumstances

Still floating helpless in outer space, Babidi calls Bra a stupid girl and openly wonders what makes her believe that there enough oxygen for ten minutes. Believing he going to die of asphyxia, he hears a voice next to him to only realize to his horror that it Zen Buu, telling him that he won't be dying to asphyxia in a mocking and demeaning manner.[58]

Budokai Royale 8: The Legacy of Vegetto[]

    Babidi Torture

    Babidi as Buu's prisoner

After undergoing about ten minutes of torture from Zen Buu that resulted in feet tickling, upper torso restrained in Buu's flesh, head flicks, gagging from a fruit, and having obscene pictures drawn on his face like a moustache, nose, eye lashes, eyebrows, tear drops, and even poop, the djinn informs Babidi that it over and he has officially lost in his own rebellion.[59] When the combatants returned with the rebellion virtually being squashed, Zen Buu uses his magic to revive and heal everyone, including the removal of Babidi's possession spell.[60] When South Kaioshin demands Dabra to reveal the location of Babidi immediately, Zen Buu immediately summons him within the space of his head tentacle, cleaned up from his earlier torture session. The Vargas then teleport everyone from Universe 11 back to their home dimension.[61]

Back in Universe 11, Babidi immediately calls everyone back at the tournament a bunch of worms and vows to put together a new army to make them pay. He then barks orders at Dabra to find the Vargas planet, but was then cut off from the demon king who revealed he is finally free from his control and angry to be forced into years of servitude.[62] Stupefied he been freed and now afraid for his life, he orders Buu to kill Dabra, which the djinn refuses, scaring Babidi even more as Dabra uses his stone spit. Hit by it, Babidi futilely tries to use a spell to counter it as his body becomes more stone by the second.[63] Eventually he is completely turned to stone, having no more say on things as Babidi and Buu discuss about their immediate plans for the future.[64] When some time passes, Babidi has became a ornamental stone statue in Dabra's throne room.[65]

    Future Events[]

A few minutes later after Gohan synchronized with Babidi's spell, he appears inside that greatly shocks Babidi to the point he immediately commands Buu to attack him.[66] With Buu being easily defeated with a single punch, Babidi is subsequently killed with a single ki blast to the head, effectively decapitating him. Seeing the vision in reality, it makes Baddack want to change this destiny.[42]

    Power & Abilities[]

Despite being physically weak, but he makes up for it by possessing vast and powerful magic at his disposal.

    Techniques[]

Flight: The ability to levitate by manipulating one's ki. Babidi has been seen using this many times, most prominently when he was trying to make a deal with Uub.[8]

Telepathy: The ability to communicate through one's mind. Babidi uses this when necessary, such as to command the Saiyans from Universe 13 or Baddack.

Wizard Barrier: Powerful energy shield that can endure strong external attacks. Been used multiple times to protect himself while in danger, like to protect himself from Vegetto and Broly's signature attacks.[13]

Magic: Babidi is highly skilled in this area and knows several spells to perform specific tasks, usually commanded by saying "Paparapapa".

    • Manipulation Sorcery: Babidi's signature attack that allows him to take over a person's mind and unlock their latent potential long they have some evil within their heart. Was used many times to create a small army for his Majin Invasion. Also called Mind Break or Mind Control.
    • Teleportation: The ability to transport a single or groups of people into a different area of his choosing. Babidi famously used this to teleport all of the combatants into a poisonous planet that was a few billion parsecs away.
    • Pocket Dimension: By creating space, Babidi can displace reality to make a room of his choosing. However doing so will still allow someone to sense his 'evil aura', cannot be displaced too much since he needs to control his men, and a sensitive can sense the abnormal vibrations and even synchronize them to counter the effects.[43]
    • Majin Sealing Spell: The powerful spell designed to seal up Buu indefinitely unless he is revived by special means. Babidi never used it once, but knows how to and has countlessly threatened Buu with it when he misbehaves. It likely powerful enough to seal both Buu's from Universe 4 and 11 simultaneously.[21] He also knows the incantation to release Buu, something that was shown in the 'future' timelines.[67]

    Weakness[]

    Inherent Limitations.[]

Whether by design or not, but Babidi was born to be less powerful than Bibidi while not possessing the full scope of his knowledge, which Bibidi eventually likes since it reduces the chance of being overthrown.[2] It unknown if Babidi surpassed Bibidi in any of these fields.

    Trivia[]

    • While Babidi's true race remains unknown (demon, alien, etc), but being a madoshi is not a true race. It a Japanese title that means wizard, magician, or sorcerer that implies a black magic user.
    • In Universe 11, Babidi never met Bojack since he still remains sealed.[68] Same is applied to Dr. Raichi since he disappeared after discovering the genocide on the Saiyan race, thus preventing him from being able to complete his own vengeance.[69]
