Universe 8: The Frost Demon Empire

Universe 8 (第8宇宙, Dai hachi uchū) was the seventh universe found by the multiverse-crossing Vargas of Universe 1, a universe where the Frost Demon Royal Family has completely dominated the universe by their terrible regime. Freeza, Coola, and "King Cold" are participating in the tournament in an attempt to win the wish for immortality that was denied to them in their own universe. The changing element made the battle on Namek take an ugly turn. The Z-Fighters perished and Freeza's family still remain.

Divergence

The ultimate change in Universe 8

In Age 762, a changing element made the battle on Namek take an ugly turn, Kulilin not responding in time to Goku's request for him to spare Vegeta's life after he attempts to flee in his space pod, to which Kulilin decapitates Vegeta with Yajirobe's katana before he can escape, which ultimately lead to all of the Z Fighters perishing. Though some members of Freeza's organization are deceased during the events of the Multiverse Tournament, such as Apple, Dodoria, Zarbon, Guldo and supposedly Captain Ginyu; however, Reacum, Butta, Jeece, Sauza, Dore, Neizu and Kiwi managed to survive. Captain Ginyu was supposedly killed by Freeza due to his failure to defeat Goku 30 years prior to the arrival of the Vargas in their universe, however, it is later revealed by Zen Buu that Ginyu actually survived and is secretly alive under the false identity of one of Freeza's men, which makes Freeza extremely paranoid as he tries to uncover Ginyu's current identity.

Goku's demise at the hands of Freeza

Goku was the last Z-Fighter to remain after the rest were vanquished by Freeza on Planet Namek. In Age 763, despite his best efforts alongside joining forces with Nail, Goku perished in the final battle once Freeza went into his original form. Follow his battle with Goku, Freeza decided to train in order to master his true form in order to prevent another incident like his and Goku's clash from happening again.

The Frost Demon Royal Family

It is later revealed that Ginyu has lived inside of King Cold's body for several years, unbeknownst to all of the Planet Trade Organization, with Ginyu assuming the Frost Demon's identity and his rule over the universe. His true identity would remain undiscovered until the events of the Multiverse Tournament after Ginyu swapped bodies with Son Bra, but he was ultimately defeated by Vegetto and was tricked into swapping bodies with Bra once again, returning to King Cold's body. With King Cold's sons now aware that King Cold is in fact Ginyu, they agree to allow Ginyu to continue to rule over the universe.

In Age 794, The Vargas from Universe 1 arrive in this universe and invite the Frost Demons to the Multiverse tournament. They accepted and took their best soldiers with them.

Power & Abilities

Universe 8 Majinized

Despite Piccolo from Universe 18 guessing that Freeza and his family have little desire to train, believing it likely that everyone from this universe has roughly the same power levels as their counterparts from the events on Planet Namek in Universe 18, this is ultimately inaccurate. Freeza has trained to master his true form, Coola is always training to improve himself, and Ginyu extensively trained King Cold's body to not only master his true power, but discover further transformations all on his own. Also some men such as Reacum and Kiwi have noticeably gotten stronger over the years. During the second round of the tournament, Piccolo realizes this and notes that his initial hypothesis was inaccurate.

No member of the Frost Demon forces has seemingly mastered ki sensing, thus have to rely on scouters or natural senses to locate opponents.

After getting possessed by Babidi, every member of this universe that was present at the Multiverse Tournament gained a permanent power boost.

Age Difference

Salagir has stated on the lack of aging of Freeza and the rest of the participants from Universe 8 (due to there being about a 30-year difference since any of them actually appeared). As an explanation for this, Salagir leaves it open to interpretation so that the reader may decide.

Of the options given:

1. This universe had a 30 years shift along with the others, and these guys slaughtered all of Planet Namek yesterday.
2. 30 years? That's nothing. With state-of-the-art technologies from Freeza's empire, no one dies from old age any more (could be like Gunnm Last Order, nothing contradicts that in DB)
3. Freeza's family has a 1000 years life expectancy, and for the Ginyû Squad, er, too, or state of the art technology for very rich people only.

Competitors (Frost Demons)

• Freeza - The second son of King Cold, an heir to his empire and leader of his own Planetary Trade Organization. Freeza's first match was against Jeece, also of Universe 8. With a terrifying glance and smirk to his subordinate, the match was over before it began as Jeece forfeited. Freeza was matched against Universe 13's Nappa in the second round, though Nappa forfeited. He enjoys verbally torturing Coola and somewhat admires his father.
• "King Cold" - The absolute ruler of the Frost Demon empire spanning all across Universe 8, and acting as the father of Freeza and Coola. He fought and defeated Videl after transforming to the fourth transformation of his kind. He later fought Baddack of Universe 3, having the edge from the start, the two warriors fought a long time, but when "Cold" powered up to a 100% the fight was over. After a battle with Bra of Universe 16, he stole her body, revealing him to be Ginyu. After a clash with Vegetto, he was tricked into switching bodies with Bra once again. He currently inhabits King Cold's body. He is clearly the leader of his universe. Acting as a strict father to the host of his body's children.
• Coola - The first son of King Cold and an heir to his empire. Even after transforming to his unique 5th form, Coola was still soundly defeated by Super Saiyan Trunks of Universe 12 in the first round. He initially planned to overthrow his father, but decided not to carry through with it now that he knows his "father" mastered his original form’s power.

Competitors (Soldiers)

• Butta - A member of the Ginyu Force who claims to be the fastest being in his universe. Butta was quickly defeated by the South Kaioshin of Universe 1. After Nappa agitates Freeza in the second round, Butta's head is blasted off with the swipe of his leader's hand. He was revived at the end of the second round.
• Jeece - The current leader of the Ginyu Force and Butta's partner. He decided to keep the name "Ginyu Force" in honor of their former captain, Ginyu. Jeece was matched against his own boss, Freeza, in the first round of the tournament, though he surrendered before the fight began out of fear.
• Reacum - A member of the Ginyu Force. Even though its assumed that Reacum was killed by Nail of Universe 10 after a hard-fought battle, an interview with Salagir states that Reacum survived and is healing up in Freeza's spaceship. He has somewhat of an epiphany after the fight, realizing that he plays around too much during fights and is not careful.
• Sauza - The leader of Coola's Armored Squadron. Sauza was bifurcated and killed by Universe 9's Kulilin's Kienzan in his first match of the tournament. He is later revived at the end of the second tournament, expressing surprise at Butta's resurrection.

Spectators

• Dore - In the novel during the lunch break, he mourned over the loss of Sauza. During the Majin Invasion he was killed by Piccolo.
• Neizu - In the novel during the lunch break, he mourned over the loss of Sauza. During the Majin Invasion he was killed by Piccolo.
• Kiwi - He wanted to participate, having grown to a power level of 20,000; however, he lost a bet against Reacum and cannot participate because of it, in actuality, Reacum, who does not like Kiwi, bullied Kiwi into taking the side they both knew would lose. At first, Kiwi resents Reacum for this, but after their humiliating defeats, he is glad he did not enter because now he can laugh at their failures.

Trivia

• It is stated in the French official artbook of DBM that no Frost Demon has encountered a Super Saiyan.
• Even though Freeza is in his fourth form in the DBM tournament, it does not mean that he needed to transform in his universe. It was only because he did not want to appear in an inferior form around his brother Coola.
• Although the Saiyan race is supposedly extinct, Freeza ironically missed Broly in his genocide of the Saiyans, the very thing he tried to destroy. Broly is living a peaceful life in this universe with his father. Luckily for them, Paragus is satisfied with his life and does not seek revenge against the Frost Demons (possibly not wanting to risk provoking Broly too much).
• Guldo was accidently drawn during the Lunch Break. He was killed years ago when Nail was inside Captain Ginyu's mutant body.
• According to Salagir, the Earth in this universe was or will be eventually destroyed by Freeza’s Army. He also stated that was very likely that Dr. Gero has tried to defend the Earth or was killed by Freeza.
• In the minicimics, it was joked that Freeza was the one responsible for destroying the Frost Demon homeworld and the rest of the race about 300 years ago.
