    — Raditz, convincing Old Kaioshin to give him mystic abilities, in Sinister creations

Raditz (ラディッツ, Radittsu) is one of the four surviving Saiyans from Universe 13. He is the son of Baddack and Hanasia and the older brother of Kakarotto. The four Saiyans are infamously known as the Super Saiyans and reign supreme as the strongest in their universe.[1]

    Appearance[]

Raditz is a muscular, tall Saiyan warrior who usually scowls or smirks for facial expressions. His most striking feature consists of extremely long, spiky black hair reaching to his lower back along with a prominent widow's peak. Clothing-wise he wears brown and black [or gold and blue akin to Nappa's armor in some depictions] colored Battle Armor in the same style as the rest of Freeza's soldiers alongside with boots and armored gloves. His battle shorts are visible with the armor on. Additionally, he wears two accessory bands: one is tightened around his left arm, and the other on his left leg. Raditz also inherits Baddack's eyes and complexion, but gained Hanasia's hair. His tail is constantly wrapped around his waist.[2]

In the past he is shown to wear black gloves instead of his usual ones in some appearances.[3] When evading from Freeza, Raditz wore informal martial arts clothing along with a headband.[4] Once imprison, he simply wore pants and had no shirt or footwear.[5] He quickly wears a shirt upon being freed.[6]

During the third round of the Multiverse Tournament, Raditz clothes only consists of the battle shorts, boots, and gloves due to him donating his armor to Kakarotto to battle Vegeta.[7][8]

During his invasion on Earth, Raditz always wore a scouter over his left eye.[9] After it was destroyed,[10] he briefly continued to wear one.[11] This practice stopped after recruiting Kakarotto and learning how to sense ki.[12] Raditz also has "Blutz-lamps" surgically attached to the back of his eyelids.[13]

As a child Raditz simply wore the blue under armor clothing as his main wardrobe. It was completed with simple boots typically associated with such clothing.[14]

    Personality[]

"So there's actually a heart in this Saiyans chest."
    Tien, in "Sinister creations"

Like most Saiyan warriors before him, Raditz is harsh, brutal, and often arrogant to a default. And like most of his, Raditz didn't hesitate to engage in advanced training to become stronger than before.

Raditz has no qualms killing anyone if need be, becoming excited at killing the last two humans Kakarotto failed to do. He later accomplished so by both Tien and Yamcha. His mentality for killing is so strong that he hypothesized that Videl relented to getting her potential unlocked by Old Kaioshin is due to her refusing to kill someone, which was far from the truth. Even upon encountering his estranged brother, Raditz didn't hesitate to throw a punch when he felt threatened. And when a opportunity presented itself, Raditz dealt a powerful blow before taking him forcibly. However if someone is not under contract to be terminated, Raditz will show restraint and force others to comply.

However Raditz's most noticeable trait is his resentment for his father, Baddack, because in his universe, his father apparently always mocked him and treated him badly. When he finally had the chance to exact his vengeance, Raditz showed no mercy in pummeling him.[15] However, in spite of his resentment towards his father, Raditz still showed him respect when he met his counterpart at the Multiverse Tournament.[2] Vegeta even theorized that Raditz's attachment to him is what held him back from becoming a Super Saiyan, something Raditz objected.[16] When Vegeta mocked Baddack again, Raditz quickly got offended over it.[17] This is likely attributed to his once childlike admiration of him.

Raditz has trained his diplomatic skills to the point that Vegeta approves of him speaking on his behalf. This was seen in the past where it was him who talked to Lord Slug's spies to set up their meeting. He is also intuitive, predicting that Universe 16 was about to be disqualified, which almost came to pass due to Bra's outburst.[18] Raditz is also knowledgeable, having study the Saiyan race physiology on why they become Oozarus from a scientific standpoint. This extends to being a teacher since he was able to explain it all to Kakarotto.[13] Lastly Raditz's wits are well trained, knowing beforehand to cover his eyes before Vegeta told him too.

Unlike his counterparts, Raditz is much more tactful in battle than his comrades, relying on strategy rather than just his strength. Baddack even admits that if the Raditz in his universe had applied the same thing, the Saiyans would have defeated Dr. Raichi, though in reality it was Kakarotto who thought of it originally. Raditz also has a calm demeanor and a small soft side in regards to his brother Kakarotto, as he plans to take care of him since he cannot bring himself to end him. However, deep down Raditz doesn't care about Nappa or Vegeta. When talking to Old Kaioshin, Raditz promised to take both of them out if presented with enough power. He also views Vegeta as being worse than Freeza. This ideology is what pushed him to gain Old Kaioshin's favor to attain the Ultimate Form, knowing that sooner or later Vegeta would one day kill him and his brother once they outlive their usefulness.[19] Raditz has also showed great dislike for many members of the Saiyan race, wishing he could have defeated them himself.[20]

Like most Saiyans, Raditz has an unsatiable appetite and can eat large quantities of food.[21][22] However, at times he can apply manners to use meals when he taught Kakarotto on how to use the cutlery.[3] He is also a daydreamer, wishing to one day become a Super Saiyan himself.[16] Very rarely, Raditz also displays a curious nature, wondering how strong both Vegetto and Broly were before they fought.[23]

    History[]

    Childhood[]

On Planet Vegeta in Age 737, still being a child himself, Raditz is surrounded by four other kids who openly mock him. Being called "Weakling Raditz" or "The shame of the elite", Raditz tells them to shut up since he not weak. As one further mocks him that he cannot be a Saiyan since he's so weak, the others join in that his mother must be from another planet whose population was eradicated.[14] Growing angry and stating that his mother is a elite warrior, one of the kids proclaim his father truly isn't Baddack and must be some kid found from another planet. When Brasca yells that both of his parents must have been insects or something, Raditz's rage boils over and rushes after him. Missed grabbing him, Raditz receives a mean elbow strike to his face.[24] Pinned to the ground, Raditz both grabs and bites Brasca's tail, causing the kid to fall to the ground in pain as Raditz proclaims he will kill him. Trying to relax, the supervising adult boringly tells them that there no killing in recess.[25]

Later on at night, despite being bruised over, Raditz happily tells his father that he beaten up Brasca to a pulp.[26] As Baddack congratulates them, he informs Raditz that his brother was just born and will be checking on him. Pleased, Raditz states that he'll be coming.[26] Happy to see his baby brother and introducing himself, Raditz fails to see hear Baddack's remarks Kakarotto is "another weakling, It's another failure".[27] Raditz is still shown to be talking to Kakarotto as their parents converse on a different matter.[28] Still explaining he's his big brother and Kakarotto will have to do everything he says, he fails to hear the nearby conversation that Freeza has given them a chance at a mission despite having weak power levels. Raditz is destined to go train as Kakarotto will be sent to a weak planet.[29] Raditz is scheduled to leave the day after tomorrow.[30]

Raditz never saw his parents again once he left for his training assignment.[31]

    Mission to recruit Kakarotto[]

Thirty-Two years before Age 794 (which is Age 762 based on math), Raditz alongside Nappa and Vegeta left Freeza's command center after speaking to Freeza himself. Briskly walking through the hall, they began discussion on how they can attack Planet Helior in three days since they still have their current mission to finish. Wondering if they should cancel that mission to proceed with Helior, Raditz intervened when he remembered that his younger brother is most likely still alive on a planet full of weak power levels. As Vegeta concludes that he may still be very useful, he orders Raditz to fetch Kakarotto as he and Nappa will finish their current mission in two standard days before heading to Helior. Without saying another word, Raditz heads to his pod to retrieve Kakarotto.[32]

    The End of Humankind[]

In Age 761 on October 12, Raditz is shown to be heading to Planet Earth while appearing to be in great thought.[9] Upon landing and stepping out of his machine, Raditz marvels at the planet and notes that it should sell quite well.[33] Feeling a powerful aura that feels just like Kakarotto, both Tien and Yamcha head out and fearing that their sworn enemy has became even more powerful.[34] Sensing two power levels through his scouter, which surprises him, Raditz pardons his brothers failure by declaring his resolve to clean up his mess himself.[35] As Yamcha demands to know who he is, Raditz notes that they have big power levels for humans beings, which they obviously used to run away from him. Ignoring Yamcha's further questioning since he will die anyways, Raditz charges at him.[36]

Easily enduring two ki blasts thrown at him and appearing behind Yamcha, Raditz mocks him before throwing a punch at him.[37] As Yamcha blocks it and Raditz compliments his success, they both get into a heated melee exchange before Yamcha uses his Wolf Fang Fist technique.[38] Avoiding it, Raditz backhands Yamcha in the chin to draw blood before kicking him in the side. As Yamcha skids away, Raditz slowly watches him recover his bearings.[39] As Yamcha comes back at him, Raditz challenges him before dodging his punch.[40] Throwing a violent punch in Yamcha's gut that sends him flying, Raditz charges after him to perform a palm strike.[41] Interrupted by Tien's voice, Raditz is surprised by his Tri-Beam before getting struct by it.[42] Being overwhelmed, Tien pours more power into it.[43] Raditz appears to be completely helpless before a mighty explosion occurs.[10]

Injured, by far from being finished, Raditz strikes Tien with a ki blast while mocking him that his attack won't be enough to finish him off. Face stopping Tien to shut him up, which killed him, Raditz yells at Yamcha that escape is useless upon seeing him flying away.[44] Flying around and growing angry that he cannot locate him since his scouter was destroyed, Raditz charges his Double Sunday to forcibly draw out Yamcha.[45] Blasting the area relentlessly, Raditz quickly sees Yamcha being thrown into a rock structure.[46] Before Kakarotto could finish Yamcha, Raditz quickly blasts his body into cinders while remarking that he pleased to see his long lost brother.[47]

Shocked to see his brother approaching him with ill intent, Raditz by reflex throws at punch at Kakarotto, which he blocks. Kakarottoo quickly twists Raditz arm and kicks him away before blasting him with a mouth energy wave.[48] As Kakarotto celebrates, Raditz appears and delivers a bone crushing punch into Kakarotto's chest, which immediately makes him unconscious.[49] As they crash onto the ground, Raditz remarks that he greatly resembles their father before pulling out his space pod command controller. Raditz notes that loneliness has hurt him, but will forgive him this time.[50] As two pods arrive, Raditz tells Kakarotto that he must obey for now before throwing his brother's body into his pod. Getting into his own, he activates them to leave Planet Earth.[51]

    Two Brothers[]

In Age 761 on Planet Freeza 54, Raditz learns from a doctor that Kakarotto suffers from several mental disorders. Not caring and asking if he can be healed, the doctor notes it will take a very long time and Raditz must visit him every day.[52] Five days later Raditz stops his brother from killing people since their not under contract. Ten days later he teaches Kakarotto on how to use the cutlery. Twenty days later Raditz explains to Kakarotto that he needs to both concentrate his moves and know his energy's origins if he ever wishes to do an effective attack.[3] As Kakarotto is sparring against opponents, Raditz via scouter transmission explains to Vegeta and Nappa that he is ready to join, but isn't strong enough though his Saiyan training is putting him back on track. Ending the conversation, he tells Kakarotto that they will be here in less than a year, which surprises the younger brother. After Raditz explains that they need more help in taking down this planet, he further explains that both Nappa and Vegeta are each tens of times stronger than them both. Wanting to get the point across they they shouldn't feel superior since he the strongest on this planet, he reveals that the reason he fetched Kakarotto was due to him having no worth in his comrades eyes. Kakarotto laughs at this before declaring that they'll both stop this planet before they arrive.[53] As Raditz bursts out laughing since Kakarotto's power level is only 576, he quickly becomes surprised when it jumps to 1445. As Kakarotto states his desire to teach him on how to control his power level, Raditz admits it impressive but notes it won't be enough to attack this planet, let alone the fact they cannot even control Saibamen yet. Undeterred, Kakarotto states they will both teach everything they know to each other and within six months they will make his scouter malfunction. One month later Raditz explains that a gravity of 13 G shouldn't affect him since their real Saiyans, which makes Kakarotto to curse him out.[11]

Two months later after a serious spar with Kakarotto that leaves them both in healing tanks, Kakarotto explains their ability to grow stronger after every near-death experience. Three months later both brothers explain the advantages and disadvantages of aerial combat. Four months later Raditz learns from Kakarotto on how to sense ki.[12] Five months later Raditz explains the science on why they become Oozarus upon looking at the full moon. Saying such a power will be useful, but since Helior has no moon they cannot use it once debarked. As Kakarotto explains they only need that weird light and a few Saibamen to get the job done, he asks Raditz if they have any money, which he confirms since Earth sold very well. When Kakarotto asks if the scientists can create small lamps, a month later they're both traveling to Helior and would be arriving in five minutes.[13]

Now in Age 762, Raditz berates Kakarotto for blowing up for blowing up the scientific buildings and for him not having learned how they look like.[54] While still arguing, they see a cannon aiming at them and dodged at the last moment. As Kakarotto charges at them with ill intents, Raditz tries to explain to not kill the ones in white coats.[55] After some time passes where Raditz explains that those with a flag are priority targets, they are confronted by Feyn, which Raditz notes that she's an elite warrior.[56] As both fire energy waves that explode on contact, Raditz is struct in the gut before getting punched in the face, which draws blood.[57] Blocking a kick, Raditz punches a force field when she created it to block it and Kakarotto's attack. Recoiling from the force of the shield, Raditz is surprised when she attacks them both with her own energy attacks.[58] Making a cross block, Raditz acknowledges her capabilities before he's blasted away.[59] When Kakarotto is bested, Raditz flies back to the arena to challenge her again.[60] Repelled once more by the energy field that draws blood, Raditz hears Feyn threatening him to reveal everything or she'll kill Kakarotto. When Raditz proclaims that she must tell him everything or he'll end this city, which shocks her, Raditz jokes that he made a mistake since she has nothing to confess to him.[61] Firing his blast at Feyn's shield, a mighty explosion occurs that destroys the entire city. Laughing at his own level of destruction, Feyn calls him a monster.[62] Crossing his arms, Raditz watches Kakarotto kill her from behind.[63] Supporting his brother with his arms, Raditz explains that they'll hide until he gets back on his feet. When Kakarotto jokes that Raditz destroyed all the scientific buildings, Raditz yells at him that he did it to save his life.[64]

    Dumb and Dumber[]

After several weeks have passed where Wigner and the other Ultra's have arrived,[65] Raditz visits his injured brother deep in a forest. After presenting him medicine he stolen from high security facilities, he also presents a humanoid he has hunted to be consumed for dinner tonight.[66] When attacking the main city again, Raditz blasts a building with a ki blast while wondering where Kakarotto is.[67] Before he could ridicule Kakarotto for eating on the job, Raditz is attacked in a explosion but lands safely. Appearing before his brother, they are surrounded before Wigner gives the order to fire.[68] Dodging the attack, both are quickly struct by physical blows, but manage to avoid the follow-up energy attacks as Kakarotto yells it time for them to flee.[69] While gone, the Saibamen they planted earlier is unleashed as two Ultra's finally reach them.[70]

Appearing to be in their Oozaru forms, Kakarotto notes the lamps worked very well as the Ultras became terrified to see them transformed.[71] When Kakarotto asks if they should follow the retreating Ultras, but Raditz tells him that hostages instead make excellent shields. As Kakarotto agrees, both rush back into the city and create total havoc from their aura-clad super speed flying.[72] When Kakarotto is on the verge of receiving a fatal attack from a Ultra, Raditz attempts to throw a building at another Ultra.[73] As his attack misses, said Ultra appears underneath him and completely destroys his tail.[74] Greatly injured and reverting back to his normal state, Raditz lands on a building as other Ultras aim at Kakarotto to finish him off.[75] When Kakarotto destroyed the artificial ring that was going to crash against the planet, he quickly covers Raditz with his own body to protect him.[76]

With the world destroyed and most of the population deceased, Kakarotto deactivates his transformation to regress back into normal.[77] Having his brother back to normal that still on top of him, Raditz remained stunned that he protected him and how he was able to resist that. As Kakarotto weakly notes that he couldn't resist it, Raditz becomes alarmed when he falls unconscious as Wigner aims to kill them both.[78] Raditz is later surprised when Vegeta and Nappa arrive early, having killed Wigner to save them both.[79] As Raditz became pleased to see his brother conscious again, they both bear the brunt of Vegeta's wrath when he proclaims that the planet is too thrashed to be sellable.[80]

    Public Enemies No. 1[]

In Age 762, both Raditz and Kakarotto are now in a populated area as they face Vegeta and Nappa. Bearing the wrath his other two comrades are throwing at them, Raditz quickly questions Nappa on why Freeza would have liked to be consulted before retrieving Kakarotto. Raditz then remains silent for the rest of the duration.[81][82] One hour later, having come back to the apartment after being retrieved by Nappa on Vegeta's orders, Raditz witnesses Vegeta's shock reaction that Kakarotto is still alive due to being immortal. Before Vegeta could further question it, Raditz informs him that he'll explain on route since they need to immediately flee before Freeza loses his patience.[83] Once in their capsules, Raditz reveals that their heading to the SG Sector since it relatively peaceful there. They then abandon their capsules and changed transportation several times before being on a heavily populated planet.[84]

Now wearing new clothes and having spoken to an informant, Raditz comes in through their apartment and tells them all that the informant's master is interested in them and has invited them to his planet. Several days later on a highly militarized zone, they are greeted by Commander Angila who invites them to see his master.[4] Upon meeting Lord Slug and his other commanders, Raditz remains silent as negotiations get underway.[85] As tensions increase due to the conversation not going as planned, Raditz warns Vegeta that everyone here is stronger than them, which further irritates the prince. When Lord Slug orders them to attack, Raditz and his comrades quickly get into combat stances.[86] Raditz quickly gets into a arm lock with Zeeun, ignoring his request to surrender.[87] Getting headbutted and flying back, Raditz quickly rebounds and throws a flying kick while protesting that he'll never surrender. Zeeun however intercepts him before elbowing him in he ground, not afraid to further taunt the Saiyan warrior.[88] Raditz is later soundly defeated and held over the shoulder of Zeeun as his other comrades are defeated.[89]

Now in prison and shackled in restraints, Raditz asks Vegeta if he could easily break free from these chains. When Vegeta confirms so, Raditz proposes that they try to escape discreetly once their sufficiently healed since their strongest elites never come by via ki sensing. As Nappa asks Raditz that he needs to teach them that, soon they all witness Kakarotto talking in his sleep, which Raditz confirms he does it quite often.[5] When Vegeta was about to break free, Raditz stops him since he senses someone coming. Seeing a minion trying to free them, Raditz wakes up Kakarotto that it time to move once he was free himself.[6] Raditz is later terrified when Kakarotto transforms into an Oozaru.[90] As Kakarotto goes onto a rampage, Raditz flees with the others while firing energy waves at the bodyguards coming to them.[91]

Once on the spaceship, Raditz pilots it as Vegeta decides that they'll be heading to Planet Namek to use the Dragon Balls there.[92] Feeling triumphant, all cannot wait to become immortals themselves.[93]

    Unknown Events[]

The exact events on Namek are mostly unknown but it is known that the Saiyans fought Freeza and his men there and Vegeta eventually became a Super Saiyan and defeated Freeza.[94] After that, the four Saiyans killed King Cold (and likely Coola too) before taking over the World Trade Organization for themselves, effectively conquering the universe.

At some point in Age 794, Raditz and his comrades were approached by the Vargas to join the Multiverse Tournament. They obliged and arrived in their custom space pods, which is seen outside of the tournament grounds.[95]

    Multiverse Tournament[]

First Round - Lots of Old Foes Here[]

Raditz was seen to be behind his comrades as Universe 18 arrived and began exploring the region.[96] When Goku won against Mahissu, Raditz may have been one of the Saiyans seen next to Vegeta, though only the feet are visible.[97] When Universe 13 began conversing with Universe 18, Raditz remained silent throughout the entire conversation.[98]

First Round - Two Universes In Bad Luck[]

During Vegeta's fight against his counterpart, he looks down on Raditz and his comrades when reflecting the possibilities his life could have taken him.[99] When King Vegeta created a artificial moon in the sky, Raditz and Nappa closed their own eyes to prevent themselves from transforming.[100]

First Round - Pan's First Fight to the Death[]

When Dabra was hit by Cell's Special Beam Cannon, both Raditz and Kakarotto wondered on how he could be affected by such a simple attack or if he intended to be hit on purpose.[101] When Kakarotto mocks Universe 16 for allowing a girl to easily die against Bojack, Raditz chimes in that they'll more than sorry since they'll likely be eliminated in a bit, which stuns Nappa.[18]

First Round - The Lunch Break we've all Waited For[]

When lunch was in session, Raditz ate alongside his comrades on the lunch table.[21] Eating like complete gluttons, they began to discuss the events of the tournament so far since both Kakarotto and Nappa have already won their matches. When Freeza was brought, whom Nappa was destined to face next, Raditz interjected that he saw Freeza looking at them earlier and likely will take great delight in eliminating Nappa later on. After looking at Nappa quizzically after he proclaimed a way to defeat Freeza, Raditz nearly finished eating before speaking to Vegeta if he was looking forward to their fights. Also adding in that he couldn't wait for his match, especially if it was any of the weaklings from Universe 2, Vegeta notes that Universe 10 is equally as worthless. Stating he liked seeing his alternative father battle, Raditz asks Kakarotto if he liked that battle as well. As Kakarotto points out that he doesn't care, Raditz notes that while it true he doesn't know much about him, but still wish he saw his brother fought his alternative father the all the same like he about to face Pan in their next match. As Nappa mocks Raditz that he cares too much about Baddack, Raditz became annoyed and had no doubt why he was murdered by Vegeta in Universe 18. As Vegeta calls Raditz a little bit too sentimental and theorizes that why he could never become a Super Saiyan, Raditz felt hurt from the insult since he would have liked to transform into one. Appealed by it power and golden hair, Raditz still hang on hope that his transformation was fight around the corner and it may likely happen in this tournament since he's always getting stronger anyhow.[16]

When Vegetto was finally about to face Broly on the ring, Raditz became excited at seeing them both in action. Nappa however doubted they will see Broly even wake up from his hibernation.[23] When Broly went on his rampage, Raditz was shocked as Kakarotto casually punts a energy ball away.[102]

First Round - Vegetto's Last Resources[]

Due to the extraordinary power outputted by Vegetto and Broly's collision, both Raditz and Nappa became trapped in the wall behind them.[103]

First Round - What Left of a Cyborg Without Humanity[]

As the stadium begins repairing from Vegetto's fight, Raditz notes that the artificial lighting has increased. He quickly listens to Nappa's reasoning on why they should leave since their all outpowered.[104]

First Round - Disclosure! Hidden Characters and Shapes[]

Raditz was called to fight with an alternate version of his father from Universe 3, Baddack.[105] Surprised to see his alternative father in the same company as Dr. Raichi, he recalled his own personal encounter with the other Baddack from Universe 10. After calling Kakarotto an idiot for failing to remember that Baddack is also his father, Raditz vowed to show Baddack that he was no longer a weak child before flying to the ring.[31] As both respectfully greeted each other on the ring, Baddack quickly mocks him since he died so easily in his universe. Quickly enraged, Raditz calls him a failure of a father and was only weak due to his influence. Now mad, Raditz proclaims his hatred for him and couldn't wait to exact his vengeance since his power level now eclipses Freeza's elite and the Ginyu Force. Amused at his power standing, Baddack transforms into a Super Saiyan, which greatly shocks Raditz since it was unfair.[2] As Baddack admits his shortcomings, though he won't hesitate to pulverize Raditz if he doesn't give up, Raditz declines the offer and activates the blutz waves lamp in his left eye. Revealing what he just did, Raditz transforms into an Oozaru before complimenting that Baddack has no moon to use or destroy to reverse his own transformation, leaving Baddak to mock his son.[106] As Baddack dodges Raditz's first punch and blocks the second, Raditz easily shrugs off a energy wave thrown by Baddack with a single hand. Noting the Oozaru's great power and resistance, Raditz quickly fires a mouth energy wave at Baddack.[107]

As Baddack dodges it and notes that his new form lacks in speed, Raditz challenges that statement by appearing behind him before punching Baddack away towards the mountains. Blasting Baddack with another mouth energy wave, the older Saiyan is struct and crashes on a mountain.[108] As Baddack was struggling from a new wave of visions, Raditz took advantage to savagely punch Baddack further into the mountain.[15] When Baddack escapes and flies away, Raditz was struck from a energy blast from the veteran warrior, stunning the massive fighter.[109] As Baddack bombards Raditz with his relentless assault, he is granted the victory and leaves a badly injured Raditz behind in the mountains. As Kakarotto arrives and mocks Raditz inability to win, Raditz curses at him and tells him to push down his left eye since he cannot do it himself.[110]

First Round - Saiyans, Nameks, and Other Demons[]

As dinner was commenced, Raditz was seen to be eating with his allies once again.[22]

    A Good Night's Sleep[]

During the night break, Raditz was leaning against the wall as the others minded their own business before they heard a knock on the door.[111] Gohan enters their quarters, which catches Raditz attention as Gohan quickly looks at him.[112] Raditz quietly listens to Gohan's request before seeing him violently shoving Kakarotto into the nearby wall.[113] As both Raditz and Nappa try to stop Gohan, both were easily defeated from a single kiai and crash into the other wall, seemingly becoming unconscious.[114]

As Nappa was about to face Freeza, Kakarotto openly tells his brother with glee that either the frost demon or the gravity will crush him. Smirking, Raditz calls him a idiot since Nappa should eb able to easily withstand such gravity. He then reveals that both he and Nappa just prepared a small plan and he'll see it very shortly.[115] When Freeza won, though suffered a great humiliation without being able to strike Nappa, Raditz celebrates with his comrade.[116]

Second Round - The Turtle and the Golem! The Dwarf against the Giant[]

Raditz accompanies Vegeta and Nappa regarding the deal they made with Gohan earlier. Raditz remains silent throughout the entire conversation.[117] He later seen to be restraining Kakarotto when Old Kaioshin refused to help them out.[118]

    Second Round - XXI[]

During the height of Zen Buu's rampage, Raditz attempts to turn into an Oozaru despite Kakarotto mocking him that he won't make a difference.[119]

    Second Round - Enemies Forever[]

As Vegeta was having a good time killing the Saiyan version of the ghost warriors, Raditz felt jealous since he wanted revenge on some of those guys for years.[20] Later on Raditz was surprised when Vegeta is grievously injured as Ghost Pan begins to fade away.[120]

Second Round - Corruption of the Absolute Evil[]

When Vegeta becomes a Super Saiyan 3, Raditz mocks Kakarotto when he hears his brother's desire to reach that form before Vegeta did.[121] When Dr. Raichi wins after he managed to kill Vegeta, both Raditz and Nappa are stunned as Kakarotto mocks them all since he the only one left in the competition.[122]

Third Round - Facing the Opponent that Made You Who You Are[]

As Kakarotto as facing against Vegeta while wearing Raditz's armor, both Raditz alongside Nappa and Vegeta are stunned when Kakarotto regenerates his tail.[7] All three are incredibly stunned when Kakarotto becomes a Golden Oozaru.[123] As their battle intensifies and Nappa thinks that U18 Vegeta can use SSJ3, Raditz chimes in that he most likely can since his kids could do it.[8]

    Third Round - Sinister Creations[]

As Vegeta wins his match against Kakarotto, Raditz retrieves him before bringing him back to their balcony. Proposing to Vegeta that he may speak to the Old Kaioshin by himself, Vegeta grants it since he's developed his diplomatic skills well despite his lack of strength. Raditz then flies off to do just that.[124] Upon landing in the area of Universe 9, Kulilin suspiciously asked what he wanted, Raditz informed them that he needed to speak to Old Kaioshin while ignoring the humans intimidating looks. As Tien demanded him to leave, Raditz threatened him to move since both his and Kakarotto's lives were on the line. As Tien was about to make a move, Old Kaioshin called for Raditz inside of the apartment. Smiling, Raditz immediately entered.[19]

Since Raditz wasn't available when his match was called during the Secondary Tournament, Vegeta withdrew him from the fight. Thus Android 17 fought against both Pans alone.[19]

Once inside of the Universe 9 apartments facing the Kaioshin, though surrounded by the humans, Raditz gets straight to the point since he aware that lying will be useless. Raditz asks Old Kaioshin to be solely granted the Ultimate Form, and in exchange he would free up his universe from oppression.[125] As Yamcha briefly leaves to see the next fight since Cell won, both Old Kaioshin and Tien ask if he will take care of the other Saiyans. As Raditz admits that he cannot kill his brother and will take care of him, he annoying shrugs off Tien's analysis that he does have a heart after all. When Old Kaioshin notes that killing the other two will not necessarily mean less oppression in his universe, Raditz admits that ruling and unnecessarily killings don't interest him one bit. It all the work of Vegeta, and he will only take enough so that he and Kakarotto can live and prosper. As Old Kaioshin breaks everything down since he will be the lesser of two evils compared to Vegeta, Raditz smugly asks if it isn't a good deal or what.[126][127]

    Budokai Royale[]

As the battle intensifies on the arena, Raditz is in the middle of the ritual as the other humans remain on standby. Raditz quickly gets spooked when Old Kaioshin lies that if the ritual is interrupted, both he and Raditz may die.[128] As Old Kaioshin likes that he has Raditz where he wants him, minions of Universe 8 burst through the door.[129]

    Budokai Royale 3: Ultimate Warriors[]

Raditz is later saved and sighs a breath of relief when Kulilin blocks an attack from a Majinized Cell Jr.[130] Raditz later tries to focus on the dance as Videl begins to overwhelm the Cell Jr.[131] When the battle is over since Videl killed Cell Jr., Raditz asks what condition Videl refused from Old Kaioshin, believing it must be some form of hit on another she refused to do. As Yamcha makes fun of the situation, Old Kaioshin continues the dance and happily notes to himself that Raditz failed to see the 'blockage' he placed in his mind, thus now has hours to fine tune it until he is satisfied with the end result.[132]

    Fourth Round - Quarter Finals[]

When the dance stops and Raditz asks if their done, Old Kaioshin confirms their still at the beginning and they'll be going elsewhere to continue.[133]

    Power & Abilities (Pre-Multiverse Tournament)[]

When he initially arrived on Earth, Raditz had the strength he had in canon. It later on increases after he begins to train with Kakarotto and get into adventures together.

    Childhood[]

Despite being the son of two Saiyan elite warriors, Raditz was mocked for being so weak and was referred as the "shame of the elite".[14] Upon challenging Brasca, Raditz was initially overwhelmed in their struggle.[24] But by using underhanded tactics, he quickly got the advantage over his opponent.[25] Later on that evening, despite being bruised up, Raditz proudly stated to Badack that he won in their duel.[26] On orders from Freeza, Raditz was assigned to be trained to become stronger.[29][30]

Baddack has a low opinion on Raditz, referring him as a weakling and caring very little about him.[27] When his own crew asked if they could have Raditz participate to make him tougher, Baddack openly declined since he didn't care about Raditz at all.[134]

    The End of Humankind[]

Raditz appears on Earth at the exact level of strength just like in canon.[9] Sensing the power levels of Yamcha and Tien approaching him, Raditz wasn't deterred and was confident he could defeat them both.[35] Amused upon greeting the last humans on the planet, Raditz showed no fear as he charges after them.[36] Easily enduring their ki blasts and appearing behind Yamcha at break necking speeds,[37] Raditz easily holds his own against Yamcha in their physical exchange.[38] Raditz then proceeds to take control of the flow of the battle by easily overpowering Yamcha.[39][40][41]

Despite being directly hit by Tien's Tri-Beam, Raditz relatively remained unharmed and quickly killed the human in two blows.[10][42][43][44] When Yamcha became disabled from Kakarotto's attack, Raditz had no issues finishing him off with his own attack.[47] Upon facing Kakarotto, Raditz was initially unable to land a blow as his younger brother successfully locked him up, kicked him away, and blasted him with a mouth energy wave.[48] However a single punch to his chest completely defeats Kakarotto, which grants Raditz the win.[49]

Thus at this point in time, Raditz was ultimately superior to Yamcha, Tien, and Kakarotto at any capacity since he won against all three. Both humans were killed by him as he successfully recaptured Kakarotto to be assimilated back into the Freeza forces.

    Two Brothers[]

After spending some time with Kakarotto, he reveals to Kakarotto that both Vegeta and Nappa are "tens of times" stronger than either of them.[53] As he laughs at Kakarotto for only having a power level of 576, he is quickly surprised to see if jump to 1445 and learning that a skill to manually adjust one's power level actually exists. Lamenting that their still not strong enough to both attack the planet or control Saibamen yet, they began to teach each other starting with Raditz helping Kakarotto learning to handle increased gravity.[11] Raditz later learns the benefits of Zenkai's and to sense ki.[12] Later on he gets blutz-waves lamps inserted into his eyes.[13]

Thus Raditz's power level and skill set sharply increased from training with Kakarotto for six months.

Upon being on Planet Helior, they easily overwhelm the normal forces the planet can provide.[54][55] When they faced Feyn, a ultra warrior, Raditz instantly recognized her as an elite fighter.[56] Raditz is quickly overwhelmed from her superior power level.[57] He is later blown away from the battlefield, failing to damage ger at any capacity.[58][59] He quickly flies back to the fight,[60] he fails to damage her, but succeeds to get underneath her skin by destroying the entire city their in.[61][62] He then watches Kakarotto kill her ruthlessly yet efficiently.[63]

Thus by himself, Raditz truly was no match for Feyn. Yet with assistance with Kakarotto, they've managed to overwhelm and kill her via deception.

    Dumb and Dumber[]

Raditz and Kakarotto survived for several weeks after their invasion, which Raditz steadily supplied Kakarotto supplies to revive him.[65][66] After easily destroying more infrastructure,[67] Raditz endures an attack from a Ultra.[68] He alongside Kakarotto manage to survive the onslaught by making a tactical retreat,[69] and yet their Saibamen to fend off some of their offenders.[70]

Appearing as Oozarus,[71] both Raditz and Kakarotto performed unbelievable levels of damage on the city when they decided to attack it.[72] Later on Raditz attempts to kill a Ultra by throwing a building at him.[73] However his attack misses and has his tail destroyed, which reverts him back to base form.[74][75] He is later saved from true planetary devastation when Kakarotto uses his body to shield Raditz from the explosion.[76][77] And when defenseless, he and Kakarotto are saved from Wigner when Vegeta crushes his head.[78][79]

Thus Raditz was no match for the Ultra's in base state, and being an Oozaru did little to change the course of the battle in his favor. He needed Kakarotto to once again come out on top.

    Public Enemies No. 1[]

When on Lord Slug's planet, Raditz remained cautious and on guard as negotiations were falling apart. He quickly reminded Vegeta that everyone in this room was stronger than them. When Slug's elites attacked, Raditz however got into a combat stance to prepare for battle.[86] Challenging Commander Zeeun, Raditz initially gets into a stalemate with him,[87] but is quickly overwhelmed from his foe's superior power level.[88] He is soundly defeated later on, being held over the shoulder of Zeeun.[89]

After escaping imprisonment, Raditz was easily able to kill the grunts while heading to the spaceship.[91]

Thus Raditz was no match for Zeeun at any point in their duel. However Raditz was more than strong enough to kill some prison guards. And it remains unknown if Raditz received a Zenkai from losing to Zeeun, since Nappa gained one and became strong enough to kill Medamatcha in mere blows.

    Untold Events[]

He was able to survive one or more engagements on Namek when the Saiyans attacked Freeza.[94]

    Author Comments[]

When Raditz invaded Planet Earth, his lower level was only 1,200. But after training with Kakarotto and surviving up to when he faced Lord Slug's elites, his power level was 5,000.[135]

Raditz at the beginning was generally considered to be weak for a Saiyan. But compared to the rest of the Universe, he is easily an elite among the many races.[136] This was still a achievement since the average Freeza soldier only had a power level of about 1,000, which meant that Raditz surpassed them.[137] As both a child and adult, Raditz was quite weak for a Saiyan and only allowed on Vegeta's team since he was among the last Saiyans alive.[138] When Raditz was seven years old on Planet Freeza 68, his power level was only "125", which was considered very weak.[137]

Raditz only survived from Planet Vegeta's destruction due to Freeza planning on it. And since Raditz never became a true elite, Freeza never really cared about him. A similar case happened in Saiyan society since children laughed at his weak power despite both of his parents being elites.[139]

    Traits[]

Enhanced Durability: Being an authentic Saiyan born on Planet Vegeta, he can easily withstand 10x Earth's normal gravity. Even 13G doesn't faze him.[11]

Ki Sensing: The ability to sense ki using just your senses. Learned after he picked up Kakarotto from Earth and started training each other.[12] He displays usage when imprisoned on Lord Slug's planet, eliciting Nappa to request to learn it as well.[5]

Zenkai: The unique Saiyan ability to grow stronger after a near death experience. Raditz learned and began to exploit it benefits after training with Kakarotto.[12]

Ki Control: The ability to lower or raise one's power level at will. While Raditz hasn't exactly displayed this ability yet, but Kakarotto was willing to teach it to him.[11]

Expert Hunter: When out in the wilderness on a hostile planet, Raditz displayed skill in hunting aquatic humanoids to feast upon.[66]

Stealth Expert: Despite heightened security in some facilities, Raditz displayed enough fortitude to sneak inside and steal medicine without being caught.[66]

Expert Pilot: Raditz not only can utilize his space pods, but can also drive interstellar starships as well.[9][51][92]

    Power & Abilities (Multiverse Tournament)[]

In his bout with Baddack, Raditz proclaimed that his power was greater than that of Freeza's elite henchman (likely listing Kiwi, Dodoria, and Zarbon), and the entire Ginyu Force.[2] Altogether, Raditz views himself as being 'thousands' of times stronger than the average Saiyan elite, thus he considers his father, Baddack, pathetic in comparison.[31] He is however incapable of assuming the Super Saiyan transformation, something he is shameful of and became nervous when Baddack performed it before him.[2]

Despite being more experienced than his canon counterparts like from Universe 18, he is still considered a low-class warrior compared to Vegeta and Nappa.

    Tournament - First Round[]

Upon facing Baddack, Raditz initially felt confident that he could win since his power level vastly surpasses Freeza's elite forces now. But he quickly became dismayed when he saw Baddack becoming a Super Saiyan, something he couldn't do yet himself.[2] But not deterred in the least, Raditz becomes an Oozaru to even the playing field between them.[106] Raditz then displays enough resilience to endure Baddack's attacks while firing blasts at respectable levels.[107]

Showing casing speed despite his large size, Raditz manages to hit Baddack before slamming him with another mouth energy wave.[108] As Baddack became preoccupied with future visions, Raditz then ruthlessly slams Baddack with a punch.[15] But upon gaining his bearings, Baddack easily wins against Raditz upon blasting him with endless ki blasts, which left Raditz unable to move.[109][110]

Thus upon going against Baddack, Raditz was truly no match for his alternative father at any point in their duel.

    Tournament - First Round (Other)[]

During Broly and Vegetto's fight, Raditz alongside Nappa was one of many participants who was too weak to resist and became embedded against the wall.[103]

When Gohan came in U13's apartment to make his ultimatum, Raditz and Nappa were easily defeated from a single kiai.[114]

    First Round Statements[]

During his match against Baddack in the novel, Raditz admitted that he inferior compared to Freeza in his final form.[31]

    Tournament - Second Round[]

During Zen Buu's rampage, Raditz was easily caught and attempting to become an Oozaru made him even more trapped.[119]

    Second Round - Statements[]

Raditz revealed that he and all his comrades have trained in more than 100X gravity.[115]

    Third Round - Statements[]

Vegeta considers Raditz to have a general lack of strength.[124]

    Traits[]

Enhanced Durability: Later on Raditz admits that even 100x times normal gravity won't bother him.[115]

    Techniques[]

Flight: The ability to levitate by manipulating one's own ki. Raditz has used this numerous times throughout his life.[45][60][124] Arguably his most noticeable usage was teaching Kakarotto on how to do it more efficiently.[12]

Ki Blasts: Bursts of energy that can be fired at various intervals. Raditz has performed this countless times over his life, such as to strike down Tien.[44] He even used a Full-Power Energy Wave version multiple times such as to attack Feyn,[57] destroy a building,[67] or to kill a bodyguard on Lord Slug's planet.[91] Raditz is proficient enough in this skill to teach Kakarotto the fundamentals of it.[3]

Finger Beam: A thin ray that fired from one's fingers. Raditz used this to attack Feyn, which was powerful enough to raze the entire city to the ground.[61][62]

Double Sunday: A pink energy wave performed from both hands. Raditz used it to raze the landscape to lure Yamcha from hiding.[45][46]

Charged Ball: A white energy wave fired from one hand after being charged for some time. Raditz uses it to kill Yamcha.[47] It famously also known as Begone!

Gigantic Rock Throw: Usable only in his Oozaru state, Raditz will pick up something heavy and huge before tossing it at his opponent. Raditz tried to throw a building at a Ultra during his invasion on Planet Helior.[73][74]

Mouth Energy Wave: Seemingly Raditz's most powerful attack which is an energy wave that fired from the mouth that only usable in his Oozaru Form. Raditz used it against Baddack in their First Round match.[107][108] Also known as Chou Makouhou.

    Current State[]

    Ultimate Form[]

    Main article: Ultimate Form
    Raditz Semi-Ultimate Form

    Raditz's partial Ultimate Form

The permanent state Raditz is acquiring to get all his dormant potential released from Old Kaioshin's divine magic. Raditz current state is still incomplete since the ritual is not yet finished.[133]

Currently a 'blockage' has been implemented into Raditz's ritual, though the full effects of what it can be remains unknown.[132] And it is assumed that once completed that Raditz's appearance won't undergo any drastic changes, essentially looking normal though the facial features may become more defined.

    Transformation[]

    Oozaru[]

    Main article: Oozaru
    RaditzOozaru13 color Bk-81

    Raditz's Oozaru Form

At his brother's suggestion, Raditz had micro-lamps surgically implanted in his eyes.[13] When switched on, they emit Blutz Waves of 17 megazenos of intensity, allowing him to transform into an Oozaru without the use of a moon or an artificial moon technique. This removes the opponents option of destroying the moon, or using it to transform if they happen to be a Saiyan. Raditz retains his intelligence, thus is not mad during the duration of the transformation.[106]

Contrarily to popular misconception, Raditz's power level only multiplies by two-fold, not ten-fold when in this state.[140] However it natural resistance and power is still enough to briefly challenge a seasoned Super Saiyan warrior.[107] And speed is not diminished in this state.[108]

Raditz has used the Oozaru form a handful times throughout DBM. First onscreen depiction was on Planet Helior against the Ultra Amor wearers.[71] Next it was shown to be used against Baddack during the Multiverse Tournament.[106] Later, while being captured by Zen Buu during the Second Round, Raditz begins transforming into an Oozaru again in a futile attempt to escape.[119]

    Forms (Non-Canon)[]

    Super Saiyan[]

    Main article: Super Saiyan

In one minicomic, Raditz felt insecure when he was the only one being unable to become a Super Saiyan among his comrades. When he finally achieved it, he once again felt insignificant since the others were already Super Saiyan 3's.[141]

    Weaknesses[]

    Super Saiyan[]

Unlike Vegeta or Kakarotto, Raditz still remains unable to attain the legendary transformation of his race, which was seen when he faced Baddack.[2] In the novel, Vegeta suspects that he too sensitive to perform it since he takes insults to Baddack to heart, despite Raditz's own dislike for his father. Ultimately Raditz shows a desire to become a Super Saiyan, awed by its power and appeal.[16]

    Oozaru / Tail[]

Despite being blessed with all of the benefits his blutz-waves lamps offer him, if he unable to push down on his own eye, he cannot deactivate the transformation.[110] And due to his large size, he becomes a easier target to capture as was seen in Zen Buu's rampage during the Second Round.[119] Raditz is still affected by moonlight whether it natural or artificial, which requires him to close his eyes to prevent his own transformation.[100] And if the tail is destroyed, the transformation automatically deactivates.[74][75]

    Equipment[]

    Blutz-Waves Lamps[]

Due to a ingenious idea coming from Kakarotto, both he and Raditz had these lamps surgically implanted into their eyes.[13] With these can can assume their Oozaru Transformation without worrying about a moon being used against them.[106]

    Space Pod[]

The spaceships used by the Frost Demon empire for interstellar travel. Raditz used his own personal pod during his invasions on Planet Earth and Helior.[9][13] He still possess one, which is seen outside of the Multiverse Tournament's arena.[95]

    Battle Armor[]

Armor worn over the body to protect the user from external attacks. Over the years Raditz always wore a variation of it.[9][18][52] But by the third round of the Multiverse Tournament, Raditz has stripped most of it off to donate to Kakarotto.[7][8]

    Scouter[]

A device worn over a eye that used for both communication and measuring one's power level.[9] It was destroyed on Planet Earth,[10] but briefly gains a new one.[11] It was fully abandoned after learning to sense ki.[12]

    Saibamen[]

During the invasion of Planet Helior. Raditz and Kakarotto employ them to help make the invasion a bit easier.[70] Before his training with Kakarotto, he was unable to control them due to his relatively low power level.[11]

    Trivia[]

    • Unlike in canon, his biological mother is Hanasia in DBM, not Gine.[142]
    • In the dumb and dumber special chapter, Raditz killed Jar-Jar Blinks, a character that exists in the Star Wars franchise.[66]
    • Compared to his Universe 19 counterpart, it remains unknown if Raditz also has a intense hatred for water and ever learned the Power Ball technique.
    • It remains unknown if Raditz overcame his tail's weakness at being grabbed.
    • It remains unknown if Raditz will use other attacks seen in canon such as Tail Attack, Saturday Crush, Shining Friday, Vacation Delete, Weekend, Exciting Year, Weekly Special, Day Crush, Dynamite Monday, Cyclone Monday, Black Monday, Chop Beam, Fire Somersault, Explosive Wave, Afterimage, etc. This includes moves seen in his Oozaru Form like Super Mouth Energy Wave/Chou Makousen.
